That's not a greeting...it's a show.

It ran for about three months in the early 90s at Lincoln Center with a stellar cast...Donna Murphy, John Cameron Mitchell, Michael Park, Malcolm Getz, Judy Blazer, Carolee Carmelo, etc.

It was the first real thing of notice by Michael John LaChiusa...who later wrote Wild Party and Marie Christine. It got a nice cast recording. And hasn't been in NY since. Until now....

This new production is being done by the Transport Group who gave us that stellar Boys in the Band last year.

Based on the classic play La Ronde, it's ten little vignettes of ten different affairs over the ten decades of the Twentieth Century. The way the words weave between the tales is very nicely done. It's not particularly melodic...but more thematic, and works beautifully.

This cast is really strong, Nikka Graff Lanzarone (from Women on the Verge), Blake Daniel (from Spirng Awakening), Robert Lenzi, (one of the sailors from South Pacific), Jonathan Hammond (who won the OBIE for Boys in the Band), Max Von Essen, Bob Stillman (from Grey Gardens), Alan Campbell (remember him from Sunset BOULevard?), etc.

Now granted, I am kind of raving about it, which is setting very high expectations, but I seriously think that this may become of those "buzzed about" productions for which everyone is dying to get tickets. The performance space is down on Mercer in SoHo, and only seats about eighty. There are ten tables spaced around a raised platform and a bed. The ten tables all are used in the performance for a lot of fucking, as is the bed. Yes, you see quite a number of grinding men's butts.

It opens on Saturday night, and I suspect word of mouth may make this a very hot ticket, very quickly.

Tix aren't expensive...$40 and $48 for reserved seating. IN fact, it's on tdf right now for $21 on Wednesday night. Although it's not assigned seats, the reserved tables are just the ones nearer the bed. Right now it runs through April 3rd, Tuesday through Sunday nights. No matinees.

It runs 1:45 without an intermission.
