Double Standard?

Here on Long Island yesterday a 42 year old woman was sentenced to 3 years probation for having sexual encounters with a 16 year old male friend of her teenage daughter.They had several encounters over a 1 year period.So she gets no jail time,she doesn't have to register as a sex offender and walks away with a warning to stay away from him and 3 years probation.If a man had done this he would be sitting in a jail cell.

This is not the first time this has happened. In one case, it was the under age juvenile that got the worst of the deal. It seems he "seduced" the older woman according to the judge. Fortunately this is the rare case, but there is often a double standard in these cases.

And then there are cases like Mary K. Letourno who went to prison for having sex with a teenager and is now married to him and they have children.

 

Each case is different.

 

Of course there's a double standard. Sociologists have killed entire forests publishing studies of it. Men want their wives and daughters to be "good girls" and their girlfriends to be sluts. They want their sons to date a slut (and get plenty) but marry a virgin.
