The roommate of a Nob Hill man found dead in his home last week may have killed him as long as a week before the body was found, authorities said Friday.

 

Police arrested Waheed Kesmatyer, 24, Friday in the killing of 67-year-old Jack Baker.

 

Baker was found in his apartment on the 1000 block of Bush Street shortly before 6:15 p.m. Feb. 11 by police officers who had been asked to do a welfare check on him, authorities said. He was last seen a week before his body was discovered.

 

Baker appeared to have been stabbed, strangled and beaten. Physical evidence led them to believe Kesmatyer was the killer, said San Francisco police Lt. Lea Militello.
