Rentboy allows you to be "online" for 4 hours whether you are in front of the computer or not, whereas M4RN requires you to actually be in front of the computer to be listed as "online."

I agree, though, it really doesn't matter if I'm am online or not, I always answer/return calls promptly.

At any given time, the percentage of escorts online at Men4Rent is a small fraction of those online at Rentboy. Why is that? If one has a more immediate need, it seems there is a clear choice of vendor.

Hi GVarch,

Currently from the 441 escort ads on Rentboy in Manhattan 145 are online, whereas Men4Rent Now has only 9 (nine) online out of 391 home and travel ads in the same location. It could be because both sites have a different approach in keeping their escorts online. Once you have signed in into your Men4Rentnow you 'appear' to be online until you turn off your machine. Clients looking for 'right now' on Rentboy stalk that infamous green light above each escort who has signed in into his Rentboy account in the last 4 hours. In order to appear "available now" which for some reason was translated by Rentboy into "actively looking", one has to update his status at least once every 4 hours. Hope this helps.

I believe you have to touch your account (simply click some aspect of the page onto which you are logged) every twenty minutes or so to remain listed as "online now" on (retch) Men4RentNow. Online listings appear before all others in any given search. Keep in mind just being listed as online on M4RN doesn't mean he's available in your search city; he may be in any of the up-to-three cities in which that single ad appears, unless you actively specified "home city ads only".

So an escort listed as "available now" on rentboy has touched his mouse within the last four hours, one "online now" on M4RN has done so within the last twenty minutes.

Men4Rent also has a larger percentage of inactive ads. As you click through to the older ads on the higher-numbered pages you get to the ads with no phone number and where the only "Email Him" button is under his pics -- the Contact Info block disappears. These are ads that have expired. I wonder how much these ads skew the online percentages.

Travel ads too. It seems to be fairly easy to drop in two or three travel cities on M4RN, and a fair number of escorts show up as active in cities that they might service for the right price or that they traveled through a while ago. If you're reporting home and travel ads it's throw off your percentages as well.

Just because an escort appears to be on-line it doesn't nessearly mean he is available. As mention before, on rentboy and rentmen, u can list your status as being on line and available for up to 3 hrs. M4RN doesn't provide that feature and should. Though I may not appear on line, that doesn't mean I'm not available and won't answer my phone.
