In my vast experience (LOL) when the guys start out in the biz they are looking for a good time, want to be part of a bigger, more exciting scene than they came from, and so gravitate to the bigger places. For some of them it is exactly the hurry and rush, the new experiences, some of them with drugs, and the clubs, they want and are looking for. They find them, and then they get sorted out. The ones who find a life in the limelight stay there, whether they keep escorting or not. The ones who don't do something else. The ones who discover they're really, really good at escorting and like it refocus and discover that there may be better places to make money than the Big City. But by that time they aren't your "22-31 year old handsome fallen angel" anymore. Unless they are really fast learners.

I've met several GREAT escorts in their home towns and when they come to nyc, they become so busy that they schedule back-to-back-to-back appointments. Mikey it seems like you and I are tied at the hip in some ways (but not in the way I want but I damn well better be tied that way next year or you are in SERIOUS trouble my friend). We joined within a week of each other and seem to think along the same lines in many cases. However, I do see it being done in some cases but in others I wonder. Like I said here, there are variables. And Cinncinati, Pittsburg, Buffalo are cities in the rust belt. I did the rust belt thing twice and won't again. Those places have declining growth. Small cities can also be hit and miss. I went to a particular small underserved city earlier this summer and did surprisingly well. The next 2 times I went, it was nothing going on. Memphis? Nashville? I personally would stay away from the South, but thats from my experience.

 

I believe the true answer is going beyond the borders of the U.S. All the cities you mentioned are in America, where our government looks at it with disdain. There's still more traveling to do. You said a few things here that reminded me of how good the 90s was in south Florida. David and Hot Spots magazine...LOL. Time changes everything, doesn't it? There are LOTS of guys who've moved out of this area since those days. Its a very different place now, and in certain respects the changes have not been for the better.

 

I believe there are many really hot younger guys who have excellent potential to do well in the escorting business, but I think you also answered your original question in your post. Many young gay guys move to and stay in the big cities because they want to be where other hot young guys are, where the action of 'the scene' is, and where they can have the most fun. If they're not in an area where they are reasonably close to these things they get bored. Seriously bored. I also do not believe that many who get into the escorting business go in thinking about it as a long-term career. They do it just to make extra $$$ and to have fun, and then they blow it all on clothes, cars, drugs, and the clubs. Most don't keep themselves in good shape either, and by the time they hit mid 20s they're a total mess.

 

I imagine that it takes a lot more than just being young, in great shape, good looking, and having a big cock to become an exceptional escort. Even though they may be hot they may not have the acumen or discipline to operate successfully as an independent escort. As others have already said, you have to be smart enough to know that you're never going to get rich if you keep blowing all your cash on designer clothes, drugs, and other bullshit. In another recent thread we discussed the issue of race in escorting, and it was mentioned that there is probably a significant number of white escorts who would not take black clients.
