Elizabeth Edwards is near death, according to a family friend. She's been through so much already, my heart goes out to her and her children. Although I've not always agreed with her politics, I've greatly admired her bravery, courage and the graceful manner in which she has dealt with her devastating illness. May God bless her.

Sad news indeed. Ms. Edwards is a class act. I will always remember her for the grace and dignity with which she has carried herself under incredibly difficult circumstances. I pray for her and her young children.

I don't think the issue is one of censorship. Embedding someone else's material can be the equivalent of theft. Some people depend on posted articles and videos for their livelihood, and by posting an unauthorized copy, rather than providing a link to the material in its place of origin, you may be interfering with someone's income as well as their ownership.

Ms. Edwards has had great joys and great unhappiness in her life. I hope her last days are happy and peaceful.

 

But, I believe it's too early to call her a great lady. Certainly, the book "Game Change" presents a mixed view at best.

 

It is horrid for her children.

 

Sadly, Elizabeth Edwards, unlike Eleanor Roosevelt and Lady Bird Johnson, will not have a third act in which she emrges as a totally independent person liked or disliked for herself (not her husband).

I agree Joseph. You'd think that John Edwards would honor his wife's wishes and allow Cate, their older daughter, to raise the two younger children...especially if he plans to marry Rielle Hunter. But then again, he's John Edwards: whatever is convenient for him at any particular time is what he'll do. What he doesn't realize is that politically he's not a has-been, he's a never-was, and worst of all for him, he's not nearly as pretty as he once was.
