I've been barely keeping up with the San Francisco plans to ban the toys in fast food kids meals. I find it profoundly idiotic that people are implying that parents are somehow powerless to prevent themselves being dragged into a fast food restaurant, and then are being forced to purchase a particular meal.

But here it shows that they've gone and done it. Wow.

"If they want to keep McDonald's out of their city, great. It's their city. But to specifically go after the toy in a Happy Meal just smacks of the same intellectual and social elitism that has become a San Francisco cliché."

P.S. I looked over at the Politics room and didn't think this quite belonged there, but if the moderators want me to move it, I will respect their wishes.

One of the joys of being a kid is eating out at Micky D's. Then you grow up and the stench of the place makes your stomach turn as you walk by. Let kids be kids and parents be parents... Now I heard some children's advocate say this morning that they would deem it acceptable if a piece of fruit were included... as if there would be a guarantee that the kid would even look at it, much less eat it! Well hopefully he would, but who knows?

PS: For the record there was no such thing as a happy meal when I was a kid... but we still ate the greasy high sodium fries, sugar based drinks, cholesterol laced burgers and lived to tell about it. Plus, I may be dating myself, but the burgers were only $0.15!!!!
