Met Mastersingers

I was just cruising the Met's website and came across an announcement that on October 27 they are having a Met Mastersinger event featuring Rene Pape. Now I fell in love with Pape's voice the very first time I heard him -- Ella giammai m'amo. To me, he is the next great Wotan. I know he has a couple of Ring cycles scheduled in the coming couple of years, but I don't think any at the Met. But I hope I'm wrong.

 

But has anyone ever been to one of these events? I would give anything to be there to hear him. If anyone is going, I'd love a report.
