I am not aware of a "map", but if you check out the Spartacus Guide for Bangkok, there are listings and maps to be had. I found it very easy to find the hot spots when I was there. There is also a very good legitimate guide service that employs Thai Graduate students who are gay and who will guide you during the day and the evening. They do not do massage or escort, but I found that they could get me places that I would never have been able to access on my own. They are also very inexpensive... ie, cheap. One day I had a Thai graduate student spend an entire day showing me the sights and he had a car and driver with him. The driver spoke no English, but he was very skilled in navigating the traffic, staying with the car and picking us up at appointed times or when my guide called him, etc. They also do nightlife tours, but again strictly as a guide and interpreter. Good luck. Bangkok is a fantastic place to visit. The people were very friendly, helpful, and the culture is a wonder to behold. I have never seen so much gold and precious stones anywhere in the world like they have there. Let us hear about your trip when you return.

Diverdan, I appreciated what you wrote, but could you not give us the contact information i.e. telephone number, name of agency, etc.? Thanks, man!

Hi guys, sorry about the lack of specific information. I am afraid that I no longer have it. However, I will do some further looking and see if I can find it. It came either from the Spartacus Guide, or else from an internet search for gay guide services in Bangkok. In looking at an old Spartacus, I don't see it listed, so it must have come from an internet search. Spartacus is a great guide, however, for bars, baths, massage, etc.

I'm not sure if this is the agency Diver is referring to but it was mentioned favorably by some posters here in the archives. They are a legit travel/tour agency (not an escort service) specializing in gay themed asian tours, including 'nightlife' tours with guides that show you the protocols, etc. I have not used them, nor have I ever traveled to Asia, but they present themselves well on their web site, and they were favorably mentioned here before. I think they used to be called Utopia tours. Worth checking out.

I am not sure you really need a map for the most part. The main street of gogo bars is basically a little soi off of Thanon Surawong (Surawong Rd) near Rama IV Rd called Soi Pratuchai or popularly known as Soi Twilight. You really can't miss it. Balls sports/host bar is on the entrance. The others area are Silom Soi 4 which has some basic see and be seen type bars. The Dreaded Ned's maps are not especially up to date as places come and go frequently. But the general areas are correct.

The best info is probably at Thai Spice http://www.thai-spice-magazine.com/

Purple Dragon is very reputable. I used them for several years until I got accustomed to the area and could get around on my own. I still use them for other exotic climes, like Vietnam. They like to sell complete packages of course, but in Bangkok, you can hire a guide for a single tour and the night tour includes the gay clubs and the guides can take you here or there depending on your interests and explain how things work. The guides are not working boys, but I think the vast majority are gay. Don't forget a decent tip for the guide. The Thai baht has appreciated in value, but you can still be a big sport for $20.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a good friend in Bangkok who is a tour guide as well. He's a really nice guy who knows a lot about a lot of stuff. He's a licensed guide too if you are looking for regular tourist stuff to do all over the country.

Interestingly I saw news posted the other day that Thai Spice magazine I referenced above is in a legal dispute with the original Spice mag.

Another good source of info are all of the gay Thailand forums online like
