Been traveling quite a bit. Just back in Portland and finally had a moment to check the board out. It;s been awhile. My cell and email access has been pretty sporatic during my travel.

Anyways... so, I was reading some thread and you wrote:

God, grant us the...

Serenity to accept things we cannot change,

Courage to change the things we can, and the

Wisdom to know the difference

Patience for the things that take time

Appreciation for all that we have, and

Tolerance for those with different struggles

Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the

Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the

Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless. Daddy~!

 

I really am enjoying and thinking about what you wrote here. I like most the parts following "...wisdom to know the difference..." ... It's those words that follow that I really appreciate and find myself thinking about frequently. Thanks Daddy~! Those are Great thoughts~!

Those are indeed some great thoughts. They are also known by "Serenity Prayer" and it has been adopted and widely used by Alcoholic Anonymous.

Ya... I'm familiar with the beginning part. I'd just never heard the second part. I've thought those thoughts though and things related to them. I don't think it's origins are AA though. I think it's kind of an accepted passage that many people have used over time. I think the original collaborator/author of the passage was Karl Paul Reinhold Neiburr. He was a Theologian and public speaker around the 1940's and 50's. Regardless, I find the words impressive and thought provoking~
