Somewhere around the MC is a longish thread on mysteries set in Bangkok, started by Lucky, I believe. He had just discovered a new author, Christopher Moore, whose protagonist, Vince Calvino, is an American ex-lawyer expat living in Bangkok. Lucky and I were both very taken by the first 3 Calvino mysteries (there are 10 or so, all originally published in Germany and only now seeing publication in the USA).

 

I'm almost finished with Asia Hand, the 4th novel, which very much lives up to its predecessors, and highly recommend it.
