If a place doesn't let people visit adult sites when they are using non-wi-fi computers (there's a couple in the building), will they still be able to detect if I'm visiting one or downloading pron when I'm using their wi-fi on a laptop of my own?

Yes

they can.. But if you are just a visitor borrowing wi-fi, does it really matter??

Okay. I guess I'll do my gay surfing elsewhere.

If you're in an office park, see if you can connect to a neighbor company's wifi network. (You'd be surprised how many leave them wide open!)

Surf for porn all you like on THEIR networks and they'll think it's one of THEIR employees.
