Muscle Beach for Muscle Lovers

My favorite summer long weekend or vacation. Without a car, stay on Venice beach: The Erwin Hotel, Venice Beach Suites, the Cadillac (I have only stayed at the Erwin, used to be Marina Pacific). Walk to Muscle/Venice beach, Gold's Gym, Firehouse Restaurant.

With a car, perhaps stay at Marina Del Rey, many great restaurants, or stay in Santa Monica, either about two miles from Muscle Beach.

Always some bodybuilders at Muscle Beach, sometimes better than others. Venice Beach will have maybe 100,000 people on summer weekend, lots of muscle. Muscle Competitions on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day.

Gold's Gym, always lots of muscle guys, and a few movie stars. You don't have to be a BB or even in shape. Trust me, you will feel invisible. No one will notice you. Work out, even if it is light. If you like to work out, you will love the intense atmosphere. Like nowhere else. Change in the upstairs locker room and shower. Buy a T shirt in the shop.

Eat at the Firehouse and Bar, a block from Gold's. Always a few bodybuilders. Healthy low fat food.

Nearest, and only, gay Bar is the Roosterfish, a mile or so away. Friendly but ordinary gay bar.

I am scheduled to stay at Cadillac Hotel. on the boardwalk, later in July. Looks good on internet, and 2-3 blocks from Gold's and Firehouse. Will report later.

I welcome suggestions from others.

With a car you could also stay in Malibu at a place right on the ocean, although prices are high in the summer. I suggest Malibu for any time from after Labor Day to the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.

Thank you Greatness. Alanm, Malibu is fun, but it gets away from my concept of a Muscle vacation. Marina del Rey is a short distance from Venice.
