I have noticed several new apartment complexes available for rent in Leblon. Has anyone rented an apartment anywhere for a week or longer in Rio? I enjoy the interaction with the guests and staff at a hotel or guest house, especially the one time I had enough money to stay at the Caesar Palace in Ipanema. I know there are a lot of Brazilian fans on this site, so hope to get some good feedback!

See the "Apartment for Rent in Rio" thread on the "Escorts South of the U.S.A." board. (It's probably on page 2 by now.)

Yes, it's a good idea, although if you like the interaction of a hotel an apartment may not be for you. However, living in an apartment forces you to interact with Brazilians in entirely different ways. If you decide on an apartment, Leblon is a bit far from the action. The apartment mentioned in the above-cited thread is better-located for the kind of stuff the readers of this site are likely to be interested in. ;-)
