I know that in the heterosexual escort community, it is common practice that an escort will ask her potential client for references as a part of her screening process before she agrees to a session with the gent. This makes it to where she can contact an escort he had previously seen, and see how the gent treated her -- and she can get a heads up if the guy was a creep/jerk/cheat/etc.

Have any of you experienced this same practice in the gay men's escort community?

And a general discussion of screening...

Escorts: What do you need from a client screening-wise to feel comfortable setting up an appointment with him?

Clients: What things in screening would you scare you away from following through with an escort?

Never experienced it from a male escort; never heard of it being done by any.

Other than the occasional guy who asks the client to send a pic in advance. Which turns me off, and which I decline and move on.

Just in its being such a departure from the norm, apart from privacy issues, etc., I think any kind of screening at all would send me looking to hire someone else.

Hehe, no worries... Your post wouldn't make me hate the job. :-p

I can completely see what you're talking about, with the lying to keep a customer to yourself thing. I had actually already wondered about it... See, I have also heard that there is a lot of drama in the straight escort community, and perhaps that is one of the big contributors why!

I have been completely baffled by how different the screening practices are between the gay & straight escorts. Or perhaps it's really between male escorts and female escorts. Maybe it's a supply & demand thing... maybe, as previously mentioned, it has something to do with the fact that women are seen as being more vulnerable.

I suppose that the most good that is done by these extensive screening processes is that it keeps the lazy LE/assailants away. But if someone's really intent on getting you in trouble or harming you... then the screening isn't going to do all that much good.

:D If thats the case, drama should have 2 entries in the urban dictionary:

1. gay male hustlers

2. straight escort community
