Rod, Did you switch from a PC to a MAC? If so can you fill us in on the plus and minus of your move? I have thought about changing to the new iMac for a few months now. I played around with one at a local computer shop and could not crash it.

Sorry I can't help with your original question.

Hi. I used to use Powertools Add on for windows, but on a Mac I need something compatible. Anybody know where I can find a AOL utility (breaking into Chatrooms, POWER IM window manager etc...) for Macs? THANKS!

Unfortunately, there are very few "suites" of programs such as BPS Power Tools. I use a program called INSTANT ANSWER, which is the equivilent of the IM answering service and which, of course, is a necessity for an escort on AOL. I do not know of any software for a MAC to break into chat rooms or to otherwise manage IMs.

You can "test drive" INSTANT ANSWER by downloading it at http://www.rampellsoft.com - however, I have yet to get it to work with OS X or the AOL version 5.0 for OS X, you would need to run AOL in classic mode (OS 9.2 or lesser).

Also go to the following for additional free downloads for Mac software, nearly all of which is OS 9.2 or lesser, however.

http://www.downloads-zdnet.com

A simple search on google for MAC OS and the terms "shareware" or "freeware" will also generate a number of hits. There is a new beta version of AOL for the MAC but I understand, like many other Beta versions of AOL software, that it is "scary as shit."

Love is no substitute for a Mac.

iMacs

Thew new iMacs are genuinely beautiful computers and the CD-R Burner and other features make it an excellent computer. Had I not recently upgraded my current Power Mac desktop and had more need for a portable, I would have purchased it. I am not sure if that helps you, Huey, as I have only owned my iBook for about 15 days now, but I found it easy to use, with a great keyboard, while in San Francisco for seven days. I also do not honestly feel I can comment much about OSX other than it is very stable, but make sure to get additional SDRAM. I went back to the Apple Store and made them install an additional 256 on top of the 128 it shipped with as OSX requires that much ram. However, the utilization of memory is such that you only need extra ram if you intend to do anything like video editing, iDVDs, digital photography, graphics, etc. as I will.

RE: iMacs

Thanks Franco. But your 2nd link connects to some Lobster Sale webpage?

Anyone have a copy of the now defunct "Really Ready Tools", it was an aol suite for Macs?

Been using Macs for years. Simply would rather uninstall Virtual PC and run AOL and a good Add On suite on the Mac (G4 Powerbook). THANKS! I need HELP, more utilities please with direct links.

THANKS MORE MORE MORE
