Why are tops, tops, and bottoms, bottoms?

Self-reporting is usually what is meant (or so my Ph.D. ex in Atlanta would explain when I was helping him with his text book) for studies based on questions, interviews, forms, etc. The study indicated in Post 24 is such a study. This does not reflect an opinion on my part that any such studies are not valid, only that they are not scientific and objective.

 

Masters & Johnsons work is purely based on such questions and the filling out of form, therefore, this is also self-reporting, what the gentlemen (or gentleladies) questions were willing to reveal or self-disclose about themselves. Therefore, much of what the country knows (or believes to be true) is based on this matierial and it is therefore as accurate as a Gallup Poll. As My Secret Garden showed, there is a lot more going on underneath and these ideas and notions of sexually, as they are based on culturally conditioned responses and personal attitudes, do change over time. You can learn much from simple conversations with your peers and others but you need to be aware that your knowledge is based on limited perspectives.

 

Now for the bombs: as one who has lived in San Francisco, I would agree that Asians tend to be bottoms and tend to be viewed culturally as such but one of my best friends in SF was a tall, very muscular, very well hung guy, part German but looked totally Asian. He and I fooled around often and I certainly had my tongue up his ass a number of times and vice versa, but it never went any further with either of us. I also know any number of black men, including some clients of mine, who have enjoyed being slammed hard and deep. I think any generalization is unfair and can lead to some surprises in bed....

 

I do agree with Mr. Hagan that West Hollywood is full of bottoms or Bottoms in Denial. Otherwise, how would I pay my rent?
