Having just returned from a long trip, I haven't opened my copy of the G&L Review. But who is this guy, Itiel? His publisher must think that the book is going to sell like hotcakes, or it would never have gotten expensive publicity like that. I'll probably read it, though. I read a lot of stuff that turns out to be garbage because I'm never sure how to know ahead of time that a book won't be any good.

I don't know any about the author. I'm curious what makes him "shit for brains"? The two reviews posted on Amazon are very positive, though they do not make me feel compelled to read the book.

A, I assume you'd simply do a google.com search on "Harvad Gay and Lesbian Review" and then go from there.

Itiel wrote " A Consumer's Guide to Male Hustlers ". He could teach Pickwick techniques in the art of Patronization. Also, he's just wrong almost all of the time.

Oops!

I had forgotten about the Pickwick who used to post here, but now I get your point. I was thinking of the Pickwick character in the Charles Dickens novel of the same name. Who, while nice enough and, of course, a bumbler, was also patronizing in his polite, obsequious way.

I think the term these days would be 'emotionally immature.' Which might sound like a reference to Catholic priests, but, naturally, no such reference is intended here.

Nope. It's no longer called THE HARVARD GAY & LESBIAN REVIEW. Its current title is THE GAY & LESBIAN REVIEW. Subscriptions cost $29.70/yr for 6 issues.

It's not only the most literate G&L think-site out there, it's the ONLY literate G&L think-site out there, other that the JOURNAL OF HOMOSEXUALITY, which is published irregularly and is scholarly.
