Somehow, I don't think this is what Jizz is doing in Colombia. But there's no question that this is beyond depressing. Colombia has been a dysfunctional country for decades and any solution will be as difficult to figure out as a lasting solution to Israeli/Palestinian conflict. More difficult, probably, because what's really driving the Colombian conflict now is narcodollars, and I seriously doubt that we'll ever see the step that would put an end to all that: legalization of drugs so there'd no longer be any profit motive and no money flowing to the phony-baloney "rebels."

It is a shame about the violence in this country, as it is a beautiful country, with a lot of potential. With hot men too !!! I had the pleasure of living in Bogota for a year in the mid 90's. Safety is an issue, but life in downtown Bogota is much like any other large So American city, you just have be more careful than what we are used to in the USA. Guards with machine guns are part of the landscape. I was never into men in uniforms.. but down there I was sure tempted. The most dangerous parts of the country tend to be rural areas in the south and east, and the highways around Medellin. The folks there are wonderful, warm, and friendly people stuck in the wrong place.

 

Even before narco business there was constant political unrest in Colombia, now they just have more money. This is the price to pay for being the oldest democracy in Latin America.

The alleged revolutionaries in Colombia are "leftists" in name only. They're drug producers and dealers cleverly masquerading as leftists in order to garner sympathy abroad. It's taken a lot of people awhile, but just about everyone, including the EU, has concluded they're nothing but narco-terrorists. Their latest campaign of telling all the mayors to resign or face assasination certainly bears THAT out! So please don't confuse "leftists" and "narco-terrorists." They're entirely different species.

No, Stalin wasn't a social democrat in a bad mood. He was a genocidal sociopath. Thanks to Hitler, though, he ended up on the right side of history, to a degree. If Hitler had never existed, Stalin would probably occupy Hitler's place in the history of the 20th century.
