I am trying to hook up my netgear router after a recent move without any luck. I've tried a few combinations but I feel as if I am missing a chord or something. The directions are probably laying at the bottom of a unpacked box

I'm using windows computer and I simply do not remember what to plug in and where. If anyone knows the steps I appreciate it. Thanks.

It's pretty simple.

There's only one wire that goes "IN" to the router, and that comes from your cable or DSL modem. Most routers will have a jack that's set apart from other jacks. That's usually "IN".

From the router to your PC there may be several "out" jacks. Pick one. It won't matter which one. Your computer will likely only have one Ethernet "in" jack.

These are all RJ-45 cables, which look a lot like phone cables but the connector is a little wider. Do not substitute phone cables. They won't work.

Thanks to all privately and here in the forum who assisted me with this. I do appreciate your quick response and I'm happy to say it worked!
