And you will be punished as well, together with all (me included) who wrote that this aria is in F.

Xafnndapp... Great! That's at least two more guys that need to be punished... and please be assured that I will be glad to take your punishment and Rick's as well... Now all I need to do is get a certain escort who monitors this site to read this thread so he will give me exactly what I deserve when we get together this evening... ;)

Very interesting. In fact I have heard much worse as interpreted by more than one female soprano over the years. Not having perfect pitch and not being able to check out the key in which it was performed, I will take your word that it was performed down a tone in E-flat as opposed to F. Actually this is something that is not totally uncommon and as I recall was the key in which it was performed by Joan Sutherland in 1962 under Otto Klemperer at Covent Garden... so the kid is in good company.

Sutherland's version:

Except for the obvious, of course, that NO male should ever sing this aria. It's just in the category of "way way too bizarre."

They boy doesn't seem very happy too me. I doesn't look like fun. One wonders if he chose to spend his childhood learning to sing opera of if the choice was made for him. And, when his voice changes, he may be a success, but it isn't necessarily so.

Bostonman… While that makes me feel somewhat better, I still feel like an idiot and an idiot that needs to be punished. So hopefully the hot dude that I will be hooking up with in the next 24 hours will read this thread and take the appropriate measures. In fact I’ll even take your punishment as well….

Mistakes like that have severe consequences. Appropriate measures should be delivered with extra fervor and zeal! Be careful what you ask for, but then I'm sure that was your intent all along. :D

Hopefully you were left with a few lasting "impressions." But don't worry, i hear the sting disappears in about a week. ;)

Wow this is a wonderful holiday treat. I love opera and Mozart "Queen of the Night" is quite memorable. Thanks for sharing this, I hope age doesn't not ruin such a beautiful voice and only hope that his enthusiasm for the arts grows.
