recommendations for Thailand, please

Hi guys,

 

I'm looking for recommendations regarding saunas/bars with rentboys (NOT ladyboys), massage parlors which offer more than massage, and escorts (NOT ladyboys), in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the beaches/islands in the south.

 

1) Which beaches/islands are best, gaywise?

2) Do you know rentboys who can also serve as tourist drivers/guides?

 

Details would be highly appreciated.

With reference to the question about beaches and islands, I went to Koh Samui and found the gay life a bit limiting (there are several bars but it is small enough that after a week, I just noticed the same boys over and over, in different places). I've heard that Phuket is very lively though, and of course there is always Pattaya...

 

As for rentboys who can serve as tourists, guides...the concept of rentboys as we know it is not all that common in Thailand - almost all of the boys work the bars but are certainly available for you to 'off' for a day or two if you like. I did meet a guy at Tawan in Bangkok (the bodybuilder bar) who also worked as a tour guy - he gave me his business card even. I ended up only taking him back to my hotel for an hour or two however.

 

Bottom line - your best bet will probably be to get out to the bars and network a little.

 

There are also plenty of Thai guys on sites such as manhunt, who aren't necessarily escorts but may be interested in making some extra money providing a tour and 'companionship'.

 

I definitely agree that you should post some more specific questions though - there is plenty of knowledge here. When are you planning to visit?

By now, Firecat's refrences answered quite a lot of my questions. However, could you or anyone advise on hotels in Silom?

 

Tawana, De Arni, Meridien, Rose, Montein: I'd appreciate any tips. They all have great websites, but how accurate/false are they?
