Don't you hate it when there is no repsonse to a post? Can you not help thinking, does no one care? Does no one understand? Why did I bother to post?

With 10,500+ posts, even if only 10% were ignored, that is 1000+ posts that went awry.

Not to worry, someone noticed and probably responded to the other 9500 :)

Best regards,

KMEM

SNAP to Lucky........

Thank you, Lucky for posting.

I forwarded to several Canadian friends, for whom crossing the US border has been a psychologically-trying event for far too long.

I hate to sound like a bleached blonde (no offense) but I never knew that the US had an HIV travel ban. I remember hearing that other countries did but that kind of surprises me that this ban was never lifted.

Well the good thing is that this should help to make Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck's heads explode.

Some people may have the appearance associated with advanced HIV, others might be carrying medicines which are discovered upon a search of the luggage, and others might be proud enough of themselves that they don't choose to deny being HIV positive, in which case they would never get a visa to enter the country. So all of those folks have reason to be happy- assuming they still want to visit the USA.

Now wouldn't that be a treat for sore eyes?

I think the basic idea goes all the way back to Ellis Island days. As a practical matter, it is mostly a barrier to legal immigration to the U.S. HIV is one of many categories that are barred from entry by a finding of the Public Health Service.

Communicable Diseases of Public Health Significance

These currently include:

  1. Tuberculosis
  2. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection
  3. Syphilis
  4. Chancroid
  5. Gonorrhea
  6. Granuloma Inguinale
  7. Lymphogranuloma Venereum
  8. Hansen's Disease (Leprosy)
