I want to get a copy of 2004's Eating Out on DVD. Amazon lists the following:

Eating Out (2004) for $16.99

Eating Out (Mainstream) 2004 for $2.71

They list the same cast, same timing, look like the same film. But the covers are completely different and the actors depicted on the covers are different. The reviews don't help. They seem to refer to the same film.

Huge price difference. Anyone have this and can give some advice?

The aspect ratio is the difference between the two. The former is 1.33:1 implying that some of the image may have been cropped and the later is 1.78:1 which is more a wide screen format...according to wikipedia.

When I looked on Amazon, the (Mainstream) version actually has the higher Amazon list price of $22.49. The $2.21 price that you memtion is through an Amazon partner but not Amazon itself.

Thanks. I forgot to look at that. I never actually buy from Amazon direct but one of their sellers.

It still doesn't explain the completely different covers depicting different actors. Weird.

"Afterelton.com" has this listed as one of the top 50 gay movies and they show the "Mainstream" film .... go figure!

Obviously, I want the film in the original aspect ratio not the "pan and scan" ....

Before ordering a movie online I often visit the Internet Movie Database to double check the seller's information.

Here's the link for Eating Out and it might explain the cover differences. The studios will often use different cover art or posters to advertise a flim in various countries. The differences you note could be between the US cover and Europe. They may also be edited differently for country variances. In other words a scene that may be controversial here would be "ho hum" in France.

There's three listings for Eating Out as well as sequels.

Eating Out 2 - Sloppy Seconds (2006)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0795376/

Eating Out 3 - All You Can Eat (2009)

well

You can watch some clips of it on youtube before you purchase one. The plot is very simple and the ending is a bit silly. Why can't we have a gay version of "Love Story" instead of this silly movie.

Plot

A young intelligent law student (Staring Lucky) falls love with a young school teacher named Joshua (Played by Zac Efron). Lucky's family wants him to marry a nice lady named Jane (Played by Anne Hathaway) from Vanderbilt family.

Lucky refuses his father's ( Jack Nicholson) will and marries Joshua........

In case (and only in case) Lucky is unavailable to play himself, I nominate John Ham for the part.

I actually like the movie a lot. And Scott Lunsford is so yummy and hot that I don't care about the plot. The sequel has Marco Dapper who is even hotter if that were possible.

No, it's not as good as "Trick" but it's fun for the eye candy .....

Zac Efron in a gay-themed movie? Be still my heart. I think I'd pee -- or something -- in my pants.
