I found the link for the video of Daniel Pearl being murdered and my gruesome curiosity forced me to watch it.

It's horrendous.

For those of you out there who might still be on the fence as to whether what we're doing is really the right thing and blah blah blah, you should watch the video and see the kind of savages we're dealing with.

F3,

I don't know where you are on what I'm going to ask, but I can guess. So, it turns out Abu Zubaydah, the highest ranking Qaeda operative, informed us of the "planned" attacks on the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. I trust and hope our government is basically using the "rack" to extort, squeeeze, pressure, whatever the word, out of these assholes. I'm trusting that cruel and unusual punishment (and not even the Geneva Convention) applies to these animals.

Later.

PS. I've changed my plans, and with the Israeli, plan to visit the Statue of Liberty on the 4th of July.

Maybe I'm in denial, but I'm not in the least bit concerned about either of those locations. Times Square is what I avoid - anyone can walk there or drive into it. My prediction is that if something else does happen, it's gonna happen there. Or, outside the Today Show.

Grimly yours,

Me i'd stick WELL away from Liberty Island and the Empire State Building two targets probably at the top of any terrorists to-do list.

I'm hoping that we've learned our lesson and will be more vigilant regarding buildings and major sites and airports, etc. What worries me more is the kind of terrorism they have in Israel: maybe not quite as "catastrophic" as the World Trade Centre in terms of body count, but the kind of terror that poisons your every day life. For example, a bomb in a department store, or at a side walk cafe, or in a line in front of a movie theatre... There is very little you can do against that, especially in a city as difficult to control/manage like New York (where I live). I suppose, like the Israelis, we have to learn to live with that fear and not allow it to ruin your life, or the terrorists will have won and succeeded in depriving us from what we (should) value the most and what they envy us the most: our freedom!

(Sounds corny, I know, but hell, it's true)
