there was a bad action flick called "angel" in the early 80's. where, according to the internet movie database "15 years old Molly is the best in her class in highschool. Nobody suspects that the model pupil earns her money at night: as prostitute "Angel" on Sunset Blvd. The well-organized separation of her two lives is shattered when two of her friends are slayed by a necrophile serial killer. She's the only eye witness and becomes target herself. The investigating Detective Andrews helps her, not only to survive, but also to query why she keeps on humiliating herself and to stop it." It was as bad as it sounds.

There was also a sequel called "Avenging Angel", but that might have been direct to video.

Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo.

Wish I'd have seen this sooner. Than I could have listed some good movies.

There is a good one nobody listed yet.

The Living End - written and directed by Greg Araki and starring, near as i can tell, no one that ever did anything else.

I liked "Angel". It had that entertaining fem-dude from Vic/Victoria in it. There was an Angel 2 believe it or not.

I don't remember either of the characters in TLE being hustlers, though it's been a few years and I've tried to block GA films from my consiousness. Was the ToughGuy the hustler? Is that how the wuss found him, by hiring him? Hot sex in that film, 'specially for, what, 1990?

in TLE they made references to Luke (the tough one) being a hustler, which is how he bacame HIV positive. I don't think there was anything overt in the movie, although it's been a few years since I've seen it. Maybe i shouldn't have listed it, since him being a hustler was really the mcguffin and not really explored during the movie itself.

angel 2 was "avenging angel". it pretty much had a different cast though.

The Fem Guy in Angel and Avenging Angel was Rory Calhoun. But he wasn't in Victor/Victoria, so I don't know WHAT I was thinking of . If I remember correctly he was stabbed to death in the sequel/

I haven't seen the film but I think it was today's PlanetOut Entertainment News that mentioned the imminent video release of "Speedway Junky" (executive producer Gus Van Sant) which has gay hustler content. I believe it also said that Jonathan Taylor Thomas (subject of many poorly doctored nude photos) plays a bisexual hustler.

Mr. Van Sant

I believe you are correct. The Advocate ran an article on the film a while back, when it was in production or first scheduled to be released; I remember flipping through it as I had no clue who Mr. Thomas was or what the fuss was about, but I do not recall the particulars, someone else may?

For that matter, has anyone already listed Mala Noche, which is really more about "street urchins" as other's here may refer to them, and it has been years since I saw the movie, but I do believe some of the young men were hustlers. Mr. Van Sant, every time I ever met him during the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and at one party here in Los Angeles, was always accompanied by very young men -- all of whom had a particular "street smart" sensibility about them.

To everyone else, thank you for your suggestions, comments and critiques, please do keep them coming!

RE: Mr. Van Sant

I'm not quite sure what the "fuss" is that you are referring to. A few years ago, Jonathan Thomas was on the Tim Allen sitcom "Home Improvement" and as he was about to leave the show (to attend college) rumors started spreading that he was coming out in an Advocate interview. There was no such interview or announcement. Apparently he set off some people's gaydar, but I have no idea if he is gay or not. I don't recall that Mr. Thomas went into vehement protestations of his heterosexuality as others have in response to similar rumors. The rumor buzzed around for awhile and then faded away as he went to school and took a sabbatical from the public scene.

Sorry 'bout that - I was reaching a bit too far back into my memory, I guess. As I recall, the rumor was that he was coming out in an Advocate interview. Obviously, an interview later did take place a couple of years after the rumor - and after I let my Advocate subscription lapse. Thanks for the update. I'm fairly certain that I didn't get the part about him being straight wrong, though.

Hey Franco (you gorgeous stud!)

How about "Never on Sunday"?

And wasn't there some intimation of hustling in "Who Killed Teddy Bear?" or was I just drolling over the deliciously hung and coyly displayed Sal Mineo?

Gorgeous Stud?

Thank you.

A client reminded me of a very sad film in French, Being At Home With Claude.

I will be printing out the list next week in Palm Springs so any more suggestions, please post ASAP or e-mail them to me directly, and again thank you for your valuable contributions. Now comes the research!!!!

RE: Gorgeous Stud?

I just rented/viewed "Our Lady of the Assassins" this weekend and enjoyed it in spite of the heavily foreshadowed tragic ending. It was rather popular in the art houses last year. The film takes place in Medellin, Colombia, amidst the violence of the drug/gang culture there; the main characters are a 50-plus writer and his young pistol-packing hustler/lover.

I can't believe I forgot "Being At Home": steaming hot sex scene in that film. Sad? I suppose. At some points I thought the writer must have been a hustler at one point because Claude's description of the encounters often seemed to be particularly insightful. Shortly afterward, however, the film would resort to harlot clichés, and I suppose that made it more accessible.

"Our Lady Of The Assas." was a big mess. I got he feeling that the writer created the film simply so that when critics and admirers would second guess his details he could simply chastise them by saying authoritatively, "YOU DON'T KNOW, you've never BEEN to Mendelin". Ok, whatever. Your movie still sucks, your personal experiences not withstanding.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before and don't have time to read all previously posted suggestions so if it is a duplicate, pls forgive :-(

How about including Brendon Fraser in Gods & Monsters. He was not exactly a hustler but at the end, came really close.
