No, I'm not referring to a Chelsea faggot riot. I hear that you can download the new Star Wars movie off the internet. WHERE THE FUCK IS IT?!? Does anyone have a link?

Beseechingly yours,

I just did a Gnuttella search on Limewire and found lots of trailers but also I presume, based on their size, full length "Attack of The Clones" Files. I'm not going to waste my time downloading them because

1. The movie sucks, see Yesterday's New YorkTimes

2, The quality of this already sucky film will be crap, because the pirates made their copies, I suppose, by holding camcorders at the Tribeca Film Festival's critc's viewing a few days ago.

You may be able to find more copies using Grockster, it runs better than Limwire, but it's Windows only, so fuck that. Good Luck.

How do I link to this? It doesn't do it as a hyperlink?

Appreciatively yours,

Since you'll be appreciative...

Do you have a news reader installed on your computer? If not, does your browser support reading news? Your local tech support will have to solve this particular issue for you.

Anyway, find the group listed above using your newsreader.

Find a posting within the group that appears to be the ATOC video. Click on the link. Be prepared, this may send you on quite the odyessy for things like DiVyX (pron. DIVex) or other software to play the movie. Anything you download, be sure you scan for viruses or other nasties.

Good luck.

Newsgroups are feature of the Internet that pre-dates Web browsers, and which provide users a way to send messages and files to a central server for sharing with other users.

If you haven't used newsgroups before, it will take some time to get up to speed with them. It is possible to access newsgroup postings with your web browser—you can go to google.com and click on the "Groups" tab to search many newsgroups—but the binaries groups (those that provide files) are usually not archived at the google.com site.

For best results, you need to install a newsreader program such as Outlook Express or Fort Agent, and connect to an ISP that provides access to a newsgroup server.

I guess what I'm saying is, that you might have better luck using one of the other recommendations unless you have lots of free time on your hands. :)

Hi,

You won't find ATOC online just by following a link. The copyright police are out in force on this. Any permanent links are going to get the domain/site owner in big trouble. ATOC's presence on the net is more subtle, but in doing a bit of digging around, I found a few copies. Oh, and with the unofficial release, several spoiler sites offer complete descriptions of what the plot of ATOC, in case that should suffice.

Several IRC chat rooms are all abuzz over ATOC. Go in to some of the likely spots, hang out a bit, have something worthwhile to offer in return, and you'll get a copy.

Be advised that with a very fast, business grade Internet connection (not DSL, cable modem or whatever) it took almost an hour to download. Snagging your very own copy of ATOC via 56K dialup might well take you the rest of your life.

By the way, I traded a pirated copy of an underground video of people doing foolish things with cars for ATOC, a trade which was very well received. I've actually gotten pinged for more copies of the car video, no one has asked me for a copy of ATOC.

Apparently, the video making the rounds was filmed with a good quality camera on a tripod in a theater setting, somewhere. I can not guess where. But, the picture quality is awful, the sound is OK and parts of the screen aren't visible.

My advice, unless you're about to cream your jeans to see ATOC, wait until the official release. I watched the first 10-15 minutes and deleted the file--decided I'd rather see the digitally projected version in the theatre.

RE: Fin Fang Foom In Search of

I saw it on IRC. I'm still new to IRC and learning how it works, so I'm afraid I don't remember which channel, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find. A good IRC client is http://www.mirc.com/irc.html

However, if it is in the binaries newsgroups, that would be the easiest way to get it (by far). A very simple client that will have you downloading from the binaries groups in no time is http://www.shemes.com/grabit/ Keep in mind, though, that your success in the newsgroups will depend upon your ISP's news feed. I'm with Mindspring/Earthlink, which has excellent USENET coverage, but I've read about plenty that don't. There are independent services you can subscribe to (usually about $10/month or so) if you really want to get into it and aren't sastified with your ISP's newsgroup feeds. An excellent primer on USNET multimedia binaries (focusing on erotica, but the most of the information is applicable across all the multimedia binaries groups): http://abmefaq.net/

I mostly download music, but I'm building up quite a nice little porn collection. :p
