Researchers appear to have identified the location HIV uses to escape the powerful anti-retrovirals now used to treat AIDS. Doctors have known for decades that the virus had some hidey hole in the body that enabled it to survive years of being reduced to undetectable levels by the various drug cocktails. Finally the researchers have pinned down the specific type of cell the virus uses to lie dormant when under attack. This is the kind of fundamental breakthrough that reopens the question of whether AIDS can be cured rather than treated. Score one for the good guys.

This is good news. I do have one pet peeve & it being this undetectable status. Some out there think undetectable means that can't get the virus if they have sex with someone who is undetectable but that is false. Your chances are less but you can still get it.

Greg, all you can do is repeat the facts over & over & over &... Over Again, and hope the important parts eventually get through. It's kinda like teaching kids where babies come from. You got a whole new bunch every year learning all kinds of "facts" from their buddies. Keep up the good work!

So now you've only got "one pet peeve?" :D When pigs fly! ;)

I've read that they are also trying to localize a specific protein that the virus requires in order to reproduce itself. That, combined with your post could spell some serious treatments or better yet, the elimination of this condition.
