I am going to be in NYC for Thanksgiving this year. But since I wont be home in Seattle I wont be heading to friends for the festive yummies. Any suggestions on where I can get some Thanksgiving yummies all in my face and down in my tummy? I know that it's a bit early but Boobers is coming with and I want to weigh our options. The hotel is some where in between little Italy and Chinatown and we'll be doing the parade.

Hugs,

There are quite a few restaurants offering a Thanksgiving Day dinner here in the city. If you're looking for a gay restaurant, East of Eighth on 23rd St near Eighth Avenue pops first into my mind, and offers a special turkey dinner. I would however, make a reservation. I'm sure as the holiday approaches you will be able to find other restaurants in Manhattan offering a similar special meal.

I am totally shocked that no invitations for a home cooked meal have been extended by NYC residents. Come on guys, be sociable.

Zip thanks for the concern but I would never expect or ask someone to open their home up to me & Boobers for Thanksgiving, it's just not who we are. Now we'd invite out of towners over but yeah. Plus not having cooking facilities so Boobers can bring his cheesecakes with just wouldn't be right.

I spent last T-day helping out an invalid friend who wanted to give his home care worker the day off with her family. I fed him his meals on wheels turkey dinner but there was little left. At least his appetite is healthy. When I left at 8:30PM, East of 8th was the only place I could find still serving. The meal was as good as any restaurant turkey dinner can be: real turkey even dark meat, not the salty canned sliced turkey breast you often get. The vegetable options were a little glitzy but the dressing resembled something I or my mother might have tried. Moreover, I had made a pumpkin pie which was waiting for me at home so I they let be swap their dessert for a small salad. As the only solo diner in sight, I noted that the wait staff was courteous and friendly without being obsequious.

All in all, East of 8th was about the best Thanksgiving dinner I could imagine all alone. With Boobers it could be quite a good alternative to an at home holiday dinner.

One word of warning. There's to TV monitor in the upstairs dinningroom so football on TV while you dine is not available (thankfully).
