Bozo The Clown

Not a thread about the poster Bozo T Clown but one about Larry Harmon and "Bozo" Williams. To be fairly brief, when Harmon bought the rights to the TV character BTC in the 50's he at one point discovered that there was a BBQ restaurant in Mason, TN using the name, Bozo's. Harmon sued for infringement of trademark. Williams fought back. Customers of the BBQ joint wrote in from all over the world, literally, to establish the idea that Bozo's, the BBQ joint, was widely known by that name and had in fact been in existence since 1923, long before BTC. Bozo Williams, BBQ restauranteer extraordinary, won. The place is still there in the "new" 1951 building but the Williams family sold out some several years ago. They still cook on 8 small pits which allows them to have "fresh" BBQ all week. Most joints have one big pit and cook once a week or so.

 

Seeing the poster's name just brought that back to memory.
