Should condoms be put in checked luggage?

I've never seen any recommendations to avoid putting condoms in checked luggage. Nevertheless, it would seem that the temperature and pressure changes in the airplanes' luggage compartments would make it hazardous to the condoms' integrity. Are there any "official" suggestions as to whether or not it's safe to put condoms in checked luggage?

I've never seen any "official" pronouncement, but I'll continue to put them in with my other "bathroom" stuff in the carry on. And, really , unless it's a long trip I'm generally not checking luggage anyway.

 

I don't mind if airline loses suits & undies, but I don't want to arrive without condoms!

I put them, plus a little bottle of Wet, inside two plastic bags and stuff them in the inside compartment of my computer case, which I carry on. (I never have luggage to check and always have a regular ticket which gets me directly into the security line).

I travel frequently to Thailand and just throw the bulk of my condom supply in with the checked luggage. No problems.

it's probably best to bring condoms to other countries.

 

most of the condoms used in the United States are imported and go through random but fairly rigorous checks before they're allowed in.

 

rejects are not discarded but are shipped back to the point of origin or other international ports and sold.

 

you might be right about changes in temperature and pressure but there are some real quality problems with condoms sold on the international market.

Most baggage holds nowadays are pressurized like the main cabin.

 

The condoms I've seen all have airtight packaging anyway.
