Why can't I add icons to my posts?

Okay. So I type a reply message. I want to add a smiley face at the end of the copy, so I scroll down and see this:

 

< You may choose an icon for your message from the following list:

 

I select an icon, and instead of the icon being displayed at the end of my reply message, the icon appears at the end of the Title.

ncm, Click on "quote" as if replying to my message and see how I did it. You have to type in the symbol.

So you're telling me to hit "quote" instead of "post reply?"

 

If so, sorry, I just selected an icon to appear at the end of this post, and the icon appears above after the "title."

Thanks, Coop. It would be nice if somewhere here there were instructions about all this. (If I missed them, I apologize, but I checked).

 

You didn't address the issue of icons as I wish them to appear, vis-a-vis using the "reply" button or the "quote" button. I am getting private message advice both ways. Does it work differently for different posters??

Just a test

 

NCM I clicked post reply and on the right side I have 11 smiles to select from. At the bottom of the window are the post icons. Maybe you're being punished for overusing the smiles :D

 

I do disagree with you about the software seriously this new MC software rocks!

Oops, I didn't scroll down your message far enough. I now see what you showed me you see when you hit "post reply."

 

But, again, I DO NOT HAVE those smiles on the right side (or anywhere) when I hit "post reply."

 

As for typing in the symbol I desire, I'll now try a smilie face and we'll see if it works. :-)

You might want to email daddy or deej then. You should have them as I do. btw When trying to manually type a emotion leave out the "-" so :-) = without the dash. Good luck.

you're most probably in BASIC EDITOR - you need to change your options.

Steven, you solved the mystery. After changing my editing preferences to something like Full WYSIWUG, I can now see the samiles on the right side of this post reply window. I will try an icon and see what happens. Wish me luck.

Scroll down to the last box called "Miscellaneous Options"

Select STANDARD EDITIOR

then click on "save changes"

 

After doing this you'll be able to see the smileys on the right side of your message box window.

Well, it seems to work.

 

And, for the record, Coop and others, I did NOT have to type in any symbol.

 

Perhaps a training class is in order, first for the Moderators and then for all the other posters?

 

Just a suggestion, mind you. WTF do I know about running a Message Board? I just like to keep things simple and carefully spell out how things work with new software, but maybe that's too EZ.
