RentMen viewings and e-mail from escorts

Sometimes I get e-mail from escorts on RentMen -- sometimes from someone I viewed a few days earlier, but sometimes I don't recognize the sender and don't remember if I veiwed his profile.

 

Can escorts on RentMen tell when someone has viewed their profile? If yes, how long does RentMen keep this data?

 

Also, can escorts tell if I have buddy-listed them on the My Escort page?

 

I subscribed to RentMen in the early days to support them and have a profile set up -- but I don't know where the escort gets my e-mail address because it's not in my profile (at least as much as I can see). How does the escort get my e-mail address? Do they have access to more of the database as an escort than I do as a client viewer?

 

Is there a way that I can view anonymously without creating a data trail?

We do not have access to your email address unless you reply back. You can see who has viewed your profile under "Who Saw Me" to the left on the web page. We can not see if you've buddy listed us or someone else. My guess is if you do not want to leave a data trail just create a fake account and view that way. Although since your personal info such as real name, phone number, address etc is not viewable unless you put it there in the profile why you would want to create a dataless trail since that stuff is not available to see is beyond me.

BTW, the e-mail comes with a From address of "RentMen (name@yahoo)" and a To address of name@domain; RentMen-User (name@domain), and the Subject is always "Hi I saw you on RentMen.com‏" -- this is why I think the e-mail is somehow generated by the escort from within RentMen.

When anyone look at profiles we have the option like you to email the person. Since RM has your email in their data base it is first routed through them and sent to you. I think this is to protect peoples privacy. I don't know your email and you don't know mine until one sends the email. If I were to send you an email on RM I wont know your email address unless you reply back to me but you would know mine since I am the one who made the first contact by sending off an email.

So still a mystery how guys send me e-mail from RentMen.

 

As Greg mentioned above, we escorts, can see who visited our RentMen profile. What I see is a list with a screen name, location and three options - View Profile, Buddy list and E-mail me. I guess the escort in question hit that button to contact you which generate the email you received.

 

That being said I don't really understand that feature. Why would you contact a client who simply visited your page?? That function is disabled in the Escort/Masseur section on a site like GayRomeo and escorts cannot see who visited their page (for understandable reasons).

yes the default settings of the site is : everybody can see if you have opened their profile.

of course you can change it at any time by going to "My Profile" -> "Privacy Settings" or just by following the link: http://www.rentmen.com/settings.php ; Option No 4 Select "NO - DO NOT ALLOW" to browse anonymously.

In the past week, I've received 2 of these emails from an escort whose profile I haven't looked at but who recently was visiting my town.

 

I have to say that I'm *not a fan of that site -and whoever is responsible for that ludicrous 'you've got mail, baby, Ye-ah!' audio should be shot!

 

The only thing it's got going for it is the 'last visited' date- which shows that of the 9 ads for my area, 2 were never visted and a third hasn't been for over 2 years. (actually, the counter says there are 11 ads but only shows 9).

although its cumbersome and time consuming to send emails to clients that have a profile on the site. it could have served as a great way to announce travel to cities which they now have a travel city option.

but believe it or not there are client profiles with pics and videos

and many of those profiles request to be contacted if you think your up for the job.

you can post for no extra charge about your plans to come to a city

way inadvance and thats a great feature for escorts.

Oh yes. Rentment compiles link review data and when escorts log in, we have an icon that allows us to see everyone who viewed our pages whether that be a few days ago, hours or just a few minutes ago. But, at the same time, I believe the clients can then see if we viewed their profile (assuming one has been filled out) as well but I can't be 100% certain on that last detail.

The site also arbitrarily crops your pics for no apparent reason. Several of the ones on my ad get croppped so that when you preview my ad you just see the background rather than what ought to be the focus of the shot. The site doesn't generate enough business for me to try and decipher the obviously automated cropping feature, though.

Hey Kevin - Yes, the site cuts them in proportion to the original to form the thumbnail on the home page only, this is so the picture is not squeezed or streched to fit in the thumbnail. In your profile the picture is preserved as original when expanded. If the subject is not in the middle of the picture - no matter how tall or wide the original is - you run the risk of poor cropping when a thumbnail is produced.

 

However - I viewed your profile and I believe your pictures, in thumbnail and expanded, all look good.

Hey guys - important conversation here around RentMen's Privacy Settings available in your profile.

 

Here is the bottom line: Clients: To preserve your privacy there are two options: For those who don't want emails from escorts choose option #2 "Make my ad invisible for searches" OR choose #4 "Allow members to see if I have checked them out" --> choose "Do not allow".

As for the client list by city - correct, the original intention was so that Escorts can let clients know they are available when traveling to their city provided the client has opted in to be visible in their privacy settings.

 

Correct David, there are many clients profiles that state they want to be contacted by Escorts and provide videos too. You pointed out some time ago that it is cumbersome to contact clients for this purpose since you have to copy and paste your message to one client at a time - you suggested a database be set up to mass email all clients your availability (who have opted in!) by city at one time. We've discussed this at length.... One one hand since our primary goal is to provide tools for Escorts to promote themselves better it could be a valuable tool for them. On the other hand we don't wish to alienate our clients by bombarding them with what may be perceived as spam from Escorts as many may not be aware of the privacy settings. Another issue is we will need multiple email server accounts so we are not shut down for spamming by the automatic server monitoring systems.

 

So the question remains - is juice worth the squeeze? Chime in please if you have an opinion.

 

Also YES, as pointed out the Travel Cities option in RentMen is FREE to post up to 3 travel cities at one time while also remaining in their home city and IN ADVANCE so Escorts get the advantage of advance notice so they can book in advance.

cutting off the video

 

Another nit with the site: when I select an escort's profile and then click on his video, I don't seem able to get back to his main profile again. As the video goes on, I'm stuck watching it through and cannot get back to the text of his ad. Even closing the window and clicking it again just brings the video back (at the point it left off).

 

It turn out that if I reload the entire page I can get the main ad back, but there ought to be a "back to my ad" button on the video window.

 

My browser is Firefox if that's relevant.

Thanks, Trevor. I just deleted the problematic pics. Now I think they mostly work in thumbnail as well as expanded.

 

(A nice-to-have would be a feature that allowed us to chose which pics to put into thumbnail rotation on the search results page and which not to, but I've been known to ask for the world.)
