Got a question for all you self-improvement mavens out there. Anyone had experience with laser hair removal? Did you get positive results? Did your unwanted hair stay away or did it grow back in a few months? I have been researching this topic a bit, but find that laser hair removal is quite controversial. Almost no real medical research has been done on the process, long term effects and potential side effects. Apparently, if you have coarse, dark hair and lighter skin, the results can be positive. Other skin and hair types, well, your mileage may vary.

Meanwhile, people go through the procedure every day. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced with laser hair removal, what area(s) you had zapped, how long ago and what happened. How many treatments did you need? War stories appreciated. Thanks muchly in advance.

My boss at my old engineering frim had this done on his face, so he'd never have to shave again. This was a couple years ago and he's still havppy with the results. His facial hair was dark.

I developed a very hairy back after I turned 30. I used to have it waxed every 2 or 3 months. A few years ago, I had my back lasored 3 or 4 times. It's permanent to the extent that the hair folicle is killed. However, not all hair folicles are killed with one pass of the lasor. With enough treatments, in theory, all the folicles will eventually be zapped. Now,I still have hair that grows, but it is very sparse. I wax about 2 or 3 times a year. I should have another lasor treatment, but for the time being, I don't care to spend the money to do it again. However, I'm happy that I had it done.

I had first electrolysis on my hairy back for some time and, even though the procedure is very slow and tedious, the results were amazing. My "beautician" later performed a few touch-ups with laser, a treatment which, although quicker, I found more painful (the burning sensation just lingered for hours: very uncomfortable). Anyway, the combination of electrolysis plus laser proved successful: my once hairy back is now smooth as a baby's behind...It took a while, but I am a happy camper :9
