Stock used to open at 6PM but is now opening at 3PM, at least for a while (as of May 2003). Ladies' night on Wednesdays, usually starts after 9PM. Refreshments: Full bar, no food. Admission: No cover, no minimum, but you are expected to but at least one drink. You can nurse it as long as you like. Coat check at the entrance is required during the relevant time of year. Facilities: Stock moved to its present location in the second half of 2002 (there was a little back and forth to the old place for a while), and having just been redone for them the facilities are much nicer and better than at the other bars. The stage is well-designed, with a step-down area and a pole in front, and has counter-style seating built around the perimeter on 3 side, as well as an ample number of tables and other spaces farther away. There is also an on-stage shower which some of the dancers use for some of their numbers (Stock is the only Montreal strip bar that has this). There is a spacious backroom area divided into 16-17 roomy 3-walled cubicles, each with a soft chair for the customer, a built-in counter to hold drinks, etc., and the usual stool for the dancer. Stock had been open 6PM-3AM until late May, but they are now opening at 3PM every day, probably to compete with Campus (1 block away). If it doesn't catch on they may go back to 6PM. Shows: More or less continuous dancing until about 2:30AM. In the afternoon when there aren't many patrons songs with dancers may alternate with dancerless songs. Dancers do a first number (also "fast dance") with clothes, taking of some but not all, and a second number (also "slow dance") starting with much less attire and eventually showing everything. Dancers: There are two shifts, 3PM-9PM ("afternoon") and 9PM-3AM ("evening"). There are supposed to be about 5-6 dancers in the afternoon, 12 or more in the evening. The afternoon dancers are mostly swimmer's build types, and the evening dancers are predominantly beefier and more muscled. But the afternoon dancers also appear in the evening on other days. In age they appear to be 20's and up. Private Dances: Private dances ("contact dances") are available in the backroom area (16-17 roomy 3-walled cubicles) at $10/song. "Contact" officially means that you can touch the dancers anywhere except in the genital area or the butt. Some of the dancers may be available for off-premises private shows after they finish their shifts. After a private dance in the back is a good time to ask. Tipping: On-stage tipping is usually not done in Montreal. The dancers will not refuse it, but it might be better to express your appreciation after they have come off stage and are working the room, or after a private dance in the back. Accessibility: All parts of Stock open to customers are completely at ground level, with no steps or other impediments. (It is the only Montreal strip bar with total accessibility in this way.) Other facilities: Stock has an ATM (a private one, not from a bank), a pool table, and video games on premises. It also has excellent new restroom facilities. Stock Bar is the largest of the strip clubs. It also has the Stock Pub, a cleverly-arranged slice off the side of the club area overlooking the street, which is open from 3PM to 9PM, Wednesday-Sunday. While open it is open to the street and curtained off from the strip club area (where the dancers are), so that the music can be heard but the dancers cannot be seen. When it closes at 9PM the street windows are closed and curtained off, and the curtain separating it from the strip club area is opened, augmenting the space for patrons in the strip club and providing a second bar for times when the crowd is large. Remarkably the club and bar area was totally refurbished and open again within 8 weeks for OUT a Gay Games event...even more remarkable it grew in size by almost 80% this was achieved by clever redesign..some may think it is now Too Big which appears to be the case on quiet Winter Weeknights. Sometimes the Guys outnumber the customers. There is now also an exceptional shower show area behind one of the bars. DanseurMTL Posted May 20, 2010 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Update Stock now opens at 8PM. Cover fee is $3 (after 9PM, $5 on Wednesdays) and coat check is $1. This is only available from Wednesday to Sunday, coat check is only mandatory on Wednesdays. Monday and Tuesday there is no cover charge and nobody available at the coatcheck room. Thursday thru Sunday the cover charge is $3.00 and there is NOT a coat check fee. No cover on Monday or Tuesday There is not a cover before 9 pm. Stock opens at 8pm everynight.
