Which hotel do you prefer?

I stayed 5 nights at the Hyatt last Spring for around $48 per night courtesy of BFT.

The Hyatt was noisy during the day. My room had paper-thin walls and I could hear everyhting, even in the hallway. The bathroom didn't have adequate lighting and the shower pressure was very weak compared to what I'm comfortable with at home. I brought my showerhead from home, but the pressure was still weak.

Maybe the Delta Montreal might be a better choice this Spring?

I have stayed at both the Delta Montreal and the Hyatt. Did not have any problems at either hotel. But on my last visit, I found a place I preferred over both.. A private rental apartment. It was a very short two blocks from Taboo (so you can be on a constant lookout for your favorite--Cedric) I dont have the website handy, but if you do a search on here using my screenname, you should be able to pull it up. If you can't find it, email me and I will try to find the owner's email addy in my archived emails. It is a nice, loft-style apartment with living area, sleeping area, full kitchen and bath, plus two balconies (it is on the third floor) and the price for a week was very comparable to the Delta or they Hyatt on Priceline. It is literally one block off the opposite side of Ste Catherine from the Papineau Metro stop. Since it is a private apartment, it is no issue bringing any new-found friends back to a visit, either.

Of course if you use priceline you won't have a choice. And you could get the Novotel -- worse than either -- or the Mariott CC -- better than both.

I prefer the Delta somewhat (for one thing, the coffee is better), but end up more often on priceline with the Hyatt. I've complained about the bathroom lighting in post-stay emails and been told that it is going to be changed (and that they are going to get in-room safes). I've never had a problem with noise there.

There are many threads here arguing whether the Gouverneur's convenience is worth the cost. For me, I have lots of other uses :9 for the money I save, and I prefer staying out of the Village and closer to the center.

Wow! Lurker has an excellent memory about which dancer I'm in lust with. I'm impressed :)

Thanks for all the responses.

I also found houses for rent at this website:

http://www.louer.com/search/res.html

I'm considering all my options. I plan to visit Montreal in April or May (to see Cedric!) and again when it's smoke-free after June 1st !

I was checking the weather statistics at http://www.weatherunderground.com for weather conditions in late April at Montreal. Wow! It's really hit or miss.

The high temperatures have ranged anywhere from 80 degrees to only 40 "chilly" degrees (*as a HIGH!) in the last 5 years or so.

Even the month of early May can be a gamble if you don't like cold weather (for low temps at night while leaving the club at 4am).

The best bet seems to be to visit Montreal between the months of June and September.

The months of May and October are a gamble if you don't like cooler weather (especially for night time lows).

Does anyone know what ever happened to Mark Anthony? He had some good insight and posts on this website last year. I searched topics on Montreal twinks and strip clubs from last year and there is some excellent info.

All the houses I found on http://www.louer.com required a yearly lease, so obviously that's out of the question for me.

I posted a housing ad on http://www.craigslist.org and got a response from "Mary W's Bed n Breakfast" (even though I specificly asked for a detached house). Anyone have any experience with Mary W?

I guess it's just not practical to think someone is going to rent their house for only 1 or 2 weeks. LOL Plus, how would you know that the person on craigslist really owns the property that they claim to own? I would hate to send a deposit only to find out it was a scam.

At this point the Hyatt seems to be the best choice for my tastes; however, I'm not planning on visiting Montreal until early May (it's a gamble). The "nasty" Novotel hotel has been coming up as winning bids for 3 star bids on http://www.biddingfortravel.com so obviously I will wait a while before making my final arrangements.

I wonder if a 4* hotel on priceline is really worth the extra money per night?

Here is the ad I posted on craigslist:

""I will be visiting Montreal for one or two weeks in late April or May.

I'm seeking a house with basic furnishings: queen bed, sheets, pillows, linens, towels, cable tv, fridge, and a computer with free internet usage. A parking spot is also needed.

I need a NON-SMOKING, non-pet, completely DETACHED house with air conditioning and a washer/dryer with all utilities included (water, electic, etc).

I'm seeking a fairly NEW construction within 10 minutes to downtown Montreal.

I would like to rent a house rather than reserve a hotel room because I sleep during the day and need a QUIET residence.

Please send me your rates along with pictures of both the inside and outside of the house.

HOUSING BROKERS and REALTORS welcome. ""

I plan on driving the nearly 10-hour trip each direction from metro-Detroit to the Hyatt. I like to drive so it's not a big deal.

http://www.Tripadvisor.com mentioned that the Hyatt uses the exact same parking structure as Places Des Arts. So you can park your own car at Place des Arts complex parking structure and save about $15 per day!(with in-and-out benefits).

In my research, I found that the 2 twink escort agencies went out of business. Am I wrong?

I did find an escort agency on craigslist that specialize in older guys over 21 years old. They made it a point to say that they have been in business since 1978 and that all their escorts are 21 and over. I forgot the name of the agency but it's listed on craigslist.

I'd be happy to meet up with anyone if you're planning on visiting Montreal in early May. Being alone sucks when you're at a restaraunt!

I wonder if "Cedric" still dances at Taboo and if there are any NEW twinks boys on the scene? I heard "Travis" might be cute at Adonis?

Hopefully street crusing will be good on Ste Catherine in early May.

I'm starting to lose weight and get in shape to prepare myself for all the walking I will be enduring in Montreal.

Here is a good link from last year about visiting Montreal:

And some other links I found interesting:

Just 2 more months until Montreal nightclubs are smoke-free :)

RE: Montreal spring visits

Information about many of the things you are concerned about (e.g. agencies) is scattered through the myriad posts in this forum over the past couple of years.

Now that people are traveling again, the really cheap summer bargains for Montreal on priceline have dried up (in August '05 I paid almost twice what I paid in August '04). In fact, it looks like prices start going up in May. During certain events/festivals, prices go even higher or there may be no availability at all. An added attraction this summer (July?) will be the outgames -- there are all sorts of conjectures about how this will affect prices and the strip clubs.

As I've spent more time there, I've come to appreciate the off season for more than the cheaper hotel rates. Although I miss the opportunity, when it's cold and wet, to stroll around and enjoy the street scene and scenery, I like the less frenetic pace in the clubs and having more leisure to get to know people.

I'm also more relaxed about the hotels. I've gotten 'stuck' with the Novotel, but found it had little impact on my overall pleasure. It's still a bargain at priceline rates, and the boys are as happy to visit there as the Sofitel :-).

Marc A is posting occasionally at maleescortreview. His posts have much less information of the type you're interested in than his early posts here had (I ran across a 2003 post of his the other night that was full of names and details). The same has been true for me I think -- for several reasons. First of all, I've learned that 2-week old information can be completely out-of-date when it comes to dancers. More importantly, as I've learned the ropes, I tend to hang out with dancers whom I like and respect. They opted to be dancers, not escorts, in order to keep the freedom to choose what they will do and with whom they will do it. I want to avoid creating expectations from others that puts them in an awkward position.

I wasn't planning to ramble on so long when I started this reply. I suppose all I'm really saying is "Montreal is a great place. Just relax and you're bound to have a wonderful time!"

I've stayed at the Loews many times. Its definately one of the best hotels in town. I like it much better than the Ritz or the Omni. If I can get a room there for under $180 canadian, I usually go for it. The rooms are extremely comfortable and very spacious. I've never stayed at the "W". The Loews is 1 block from the subway line that goes to the clubs in the village. The ride takes about 6 minutes. A taxi is less than $10.

I'd choose the Loews for the same price or the Hyatt for half rather than tolerate the horrible service at the Gouverneur.

RE: Montreal spring visits

The Gov Dupuis wanted $350 per night for a suite on the 30th floor with a western view. They said the normal rate was $650 per night.

I really don't have high demands for service as long as I have fresh towels each day and my bed is made ; however, it looks like I'm going to take my chances on priceline for a 3* hotel this time around.
