By now most of you have heard that La Fleur's has closed for good. If you haven't read it yet, there is a lovely letter from John LaFleur, the manager and heart & soul of the bar, explaining why he did what he did (thanks to Manhattan's finest). Many of you have commented on his integrity and honor for taking the time to explain what exactly happened. I hope those of you unable to ever visit the bar can make the time to visit Mr. La Fleur's new business, whenever and whereever it may happen. First Stella's, then the Gaiety, then LaFleur's, and now the Pope. How many more gay icons can we afford to lose!?!?

As Cindy Adams says, "Only in New York kids, only in New York".
