Last week or so, two young men at LaFleur's were arrested for solicitation. At least one, if not both, danced at the bar. The set up was via a cell phone ("I'll give you $500.00 for sex" "YEA! SURE!" Jesus, for $500.00 I'd put out too!) Anyway...as a result of this event, the police have been sending undercover cops almost hourly to see what's going on. Some of these cops are hot, some are not. As a result of this scrutiny, the bar--at least during the past weekend---has not been hosting male dancers. They are trying to settle this as quickly as possible but who knows how long it may last. By the way, one of the patrons of the bar, a retired lawyer, said this was blatent entrapment but these two guys were scared out of their minds and said what the arresting officers wanted to hear and plead guilty.

Some say the city is cracking down on this little hole in the wall due to a high-rise hotel going up next door and they don't want an unsavory type around the business. Some say the bar was set up by a disgruntled employee who recently left for "another reason" but threatened them, saying they would "close in the near future." Some say this is a continuation of Giuliani's legacy to "clean up Time's Square."

Whatever the reason, I hope you can find it in your heart to stop by the bar and have a drink, even if it's only one drink, just to let them know you support them and hope everything will turn out in our--the gay community--favor (God, I sound like a lesbian!). More and more we are losing such venues in Manhattan until all that is left will be Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck! Also, if bars like LaFleur's actually close, where will all the closeted married Religious Right-types go when their wives are away visiting their mothers; when there's a convention in Manhattan and the guys just need a home away from home; when Fleet Week hits the city?!?!

I used to go to Stella's until New York's finest made it impossible for the owner to keep the bar open. I then discovered LaFleur's and it was like coming home. A small "neighborhood" bar where people really look out for you and just happenes to have hot male dancers. I wonder if the police go to the Hustler Club on the west side highway to see if those professional virgins from the convent are spending their free time doing volunteer work at the orphanage? I will them no harm, but think what's good for the gander is good for those wanting to be goosed!

So, if you can, even for a few minutes, stop by the bar, introduce yourself to the owner, John LaFleur (yes, there really is a LaFleur) and raise a glass in solidarity. Please join us in our cause...the most it will cost you is a drink! Thank you for your time.

REMEMBER THIS NEXT TIME YOU VOTE!!

This just one more reason.. to always be Thankful to HOOBOY for M4M Site by BOTH Clients and Escorts ALIKE! What ever the reason, the guys "Listed" on his Site can always know they will be dealing with less troubling situations than, to just give their Numbers to someone in a Bar! I don't think this Lafleur's Incident will do anything but hasten it's demise..It would never have been a Stella's replacement, Neighborhood is changing period! Otherwise "along time ago" we would of heard of "Entrapment" via Hooboy Site! We all know, those of us who live in NYC,for a long time, that the NYPD knows of the existence of this site. Nothing has ever come of it..to my knowledge..Unfortunately LaFleurs opened at a bad time, in a Changing Neighborhood! My Condolences, to those who have to find a "NEW Barstool",BUT I have done it many times in NYC, since the late 70's..LOL :+

You're correct JT. I don't know if that was Magic Touch but I hear that he did staged performances. He's had a few bars in NYC as well. And yes, that bartender of whome you speak does work at LaFleur's, except I don't know who that comedian is; I always tell him that he looks like a retired porn star from some Falcon leather video (tall, nice body, big bush moustache...). All he needs is a vest and a harness.

I cannot imagine that area of NYC changing. It's right within Port Authority, almost across the street from a halfway facility, one block from the Probation Department, one block from a flop house. The only people in this area, other than the residents and those attending LaFleur's are transients or homeless living in Port Authority who are ushered out after midnight onto the street.

No, I never thought LaFleur's was another Stella's, but it was a great place to relax with a lot of the same patrons from Stella's AND the only bar of its kind on the west side. What bar have your cheeks moved to since the demise of Stella's? Let me know; it appears I may be moving to a new bar too, sadly. :-(

We can only hope for the best!
