Anyone know the status of the strip club Saints & Sinners in Providence, Rhode Island. I went down on Saturday night a couple weeks ago to find it completely closed. There was one single small sign hand-written on the door that simply said "Closed". Anyone know the status of this place or what happened? I can only assume that it's permanently closed unless someone else has other info. It's too bad, it used to generally be a fairly decent place.

saints and sinners, from what i was told by one of the managers in the female "models" club behind it, was closed in early december, and will re-open at some future date as a straight club with female strippers and gogo girls. another example of a gay-oriented business only trying to make money off of gay people, not about supporting gay culture or the gay community. when the holy $$$ isn't there, it goes straight. another one bites the dust. Just when it felt like the male strip club was beginning to get off the ground and develop a clientelle.......x(

S&S had a tough business model to sell and did a poor job executing it IMO. They tried the Montreal model with two variations. The primary income generator was the sale of acohol just as in Montreal. First variation, they had a cover charge. Nothing that onerous except when they had a 'porn star' headliner. Second, in contrast to Montreal, they tried to get a piece of the backroom action by charging a $10 access fee/per trip. However, the real killer IMO was the exhorbitant rates they supported, that the dancers to charged in the back room -- $20 per song and some even $30. Obviously there werent enough customers willing to part with that kind of money. A club has to attract clientel and keep them happy. S&S attracted customers but couldnt keep them in the long run. As things spiraled down, the management cut the pay of the dancers causing many to leave. I'm sure that accentuated the sprial.

Most successful clubs in New England combine a strip or go-go boy show with club dancing environment. Attracts more people over a broader age sepctrum and sells tremendous amounts of alcohol on weekends. The Paradise operates on such a model and makes a real killing on weekends.

I agree with you totally Tampa. Although I would say that they had NO business model at all. It was the worst managed club I have ever seen. Some of the dancers were cute, and usually worth the trip, but as you said, the club just went into a downward spiral in its final months.

They did try to introduce a "Montreal style" feel to it, but failed miserably! As so many of us on this board know, there is only ONE Montreal! I am counting the days until I return! :9
