RE: Blocking

No escort (or for that matter movie star, celebrity, model, no one) is worth having to deal with telemarketers.

To all potential clients out there, please do keep in mind: if you block all phone calls that come from "unidentified" or "ID blocked" phones, you are highly unlikely to get escorts to respond to your calls and pages.

It amazes me how many clients page me, but when I attempt to return their call, I get a message saying: "this person does not accept unidentified calls."

Surely, you can't expect an escort to identify himself through a caller ID system?! We'd love to respond to your attempts to reach us. But if you want us to get through, please do call your phone company, and tell them to unblock unidentified calls.

RE: Blocking

Jake, Not sure why this would be a problem. Simply put down the cell phone :-) and use a pay phone. another way around call rejection is have the operator place the call for you. This will protect your identity.

I use call rejection and have never not heard back from an escort due to its restrictions.

Cheers! Ritchie

For those of us who don't hire escorts constantly it doesn't make a lot of sense to call the phone company and change our call options just so that escorts can block their numbers when they call us. Many escorts post their phone numbers in their ads, so why would they have a problem with caller ID? In my opinion an escort who is so afraid of anyone finding out what he is doing should get into a different line of work.

The Flip Side of this is escorts who had call rejection. As a client I don't want to give out my phone number. Escorts should have a "safe" number for us to call.

I have a toll-free number I give to escorts.

The number they call from appears on my phone bill;

caller-id blocking has no effect.

I use a cell phone so I don't have this problem (I'm pretty sure caller-ID doesn't reveal a cellular user's name) but Jake's advertised number, I assume, is a pager, so he's probably calling from home. Most people don't have pay phones at home! I don't understand, tho, why some escorts don't use cell phones. I'd much rather speak to someone when they call me...I'm too lazy for that extra step of having to call back! :-)

RE: Blocking

The caller id on my phone does show #'s for cell phones, although it does not always show the name. Often, if it's a cell call from a different area code, it will just say "cellular call" and the #. If it's out of state if it does not give the name it will say the state and the #.

Escorts may not want their real names to be coming up on caller id's.

You can also get Privacy Manager, so if you have private and unknown #'s blocked, the calling party is asked to give their name and then the phone rings telling you who's calling at which time you have the option of accepting or declining the call.

Some hotel #'s come up as blocked, so you can be missing out on some business if you have private #'s blocked.

RE: Blocking

I think it depends on the cell phone provider. I have a friend who can't call me from her cell phone because I have my caller-id set up to block anonymous calls. (She knows how to temporarily disable the anonymous feature on her home phone. That method doesn't work on her cell.) Calls from other providers either show up us "unavailable", "out of area", or with a phone number and either the name of a state, "unavailable", or "wireless caller".
