I just finished writing my list of favorite actors, actresses, etc., for that thread, but the software won't let me post my response because it says that I have to have no more than 64 characters.

What's that about?

Hey Will,

Sounds like you're exceeding one of the internal buffer length restrictions, most likely accidentally.

I'd suggest restarting IE (or whatever browser you use) and reconnecting to M4M. Go directly to that thread and try the reply again.

If it still happens, it's possible that there's an error in the internal structure of that thread. One way to disprove that will be to see if other people can post to it.

You're not trying to type some really long title or incredibly long message are you?

BG nailed it. I'll bet it's the thread subject.

I've seen it before where the subject is just long enough that the default reply, which ads "RE: " to the subject, makes the subject too long.

:-)

I just went and counted the number of characters in the title.

Guess what? 64.

Will -- Change the reply title to something a bit shorter and you should be ok.

ps: Thanks, Deej.

You're welcome.

That's exactly how I bumped into this before. A subject that was exactly 64 characters and the reply tried to ad "RE: ".

I do wish the software would react a bit more gracefully (like just truncating a subject that's too long), but at least "we" know this behavior is there. :p

Thanks, guys. But why doesn't the same thing happen when other people try to post?

Never mind. Soon enough you'll have my cinematic opinions, for whatever they're worth!

Are you talking about the 64 regular posters here?

Nope, IM, it was about the 64 Farah Faucett posters in my bedroom.
