I have IE 6.0 on Windows XP. My browswer history will not completely clear. It will wipe most of it out, but for example, when I type "www.d", it fills in http://www.daddysreviews.com/newest.php?who=jamie_london&page=0. I'm not quite sure why that particular escort since the first time I saw his pic was last week when he had a new review.

I've cleared the history, cleared files, cookies, auto-complete content. It's still there...as well as 2 or 3 other odd entries.

* And I really need to be able to clear this History *

Help Please!

Somebody will surely reply with a much better suggestion, but if you're desperate (the wife is coming home tonight), I suppose you could uninstall and reinstall the application. (Or does Windows even let you do that any more? I seem to recall the DOJ demanding that this be possible.) Seems like that should work, at the cost of a lot of inconvenience. Maybe you'd need to install a different browser first, to be sure you have a way to navigate to the IE download page.

Kudos, by the way, on clearly defining the problem, your system, and the attempts to fix it.

Kevin, Thanks for the compliment. Hoping I don't have to reload, that would be a real pain. Fortunately, I have some time to work on the issue. I just need it to clear before my niece visits in a couple of weeks.

Thanks PWIT, I don't know how you found that... Any time I visit the MS help pages I seldom find anything of relevence. Unfortunately, it didn't work.

Sorry it did not help, there is one more option that I was hesitant to post. Suggest you only try this if you are comfortable editing the registry. The uninstall, reinstall suggestion that Kevin mentioned may accomplish the same thing - that is if the uninstall was scripted correctly to clear up the registry. I would try that first before editing the registry if you have never done that before.

And the secret to the MS site - don't use their site search feature. Use Google instead. To find more, just use 'clearing history in IE' as search terms on Google.

I'll have to think about the registry. I have done it a couple of times, but it's been quite a while. Thanks!

Also thanks for the Google hint for the MS site. I've never thought their own search function was worth beans!

Unfortunately, no, it didn't work. Tried 4 times.

Then you have SOMETHING running that's interfering with normal operations.

It could be your virus protection, spyware protection, or it could be a virus or spyware.

Deleting an item from the IE dropdown should permanently delete it from that dropdown. You may have to delete EACH of them, but it should permanently go.

ha ha ha... well, now that truly had not occurred to me. Yes, I could. However, if I have something wrong with my PC, I would like to figure it out and get it corrected too. But thanks for the thought... I may do that even if I do get it fixed.

Ok, then I'll work from this assumption and see what I can figure out. Thanks for the help... to both of you!!

Just to update, in case anyone has any other ideas...

Virus software says everything is fine.

Dove in to edit the registry and the only thing there was the default. I have no clue where it is finding these addresses.
