How do I go about installing a counter on my website? Is it a java script, and if so where do i find it? Or do I have to pay for a service, in which case I'm not THAT interested?

There are counters that you can just cut and paste the code onto your website and should work.

Do a google search for "Website hit counter". Any of the first few hundred pages listed in the search result will work. You just need to pick the one that looks right for you.

 

All will give you the exact javascript code to copy/paste into your html document.
