What the hell am I doing wrong, I took out my old avatar image for a new one and the new one or any other ones I have will not post. All I get is a sq box with a red x in it ;( In the message format the box is unchecked.

What does the "message format box" have to do with avatars?

 

If you put in a valid URL for the avatar, it'll be fine. If it isn't, then it isn't a valid URL to an image file.
