Hey guys, I need some advice. I'm working on a website for a new business which is national in scope but caters to a niche which has its own jargon. I need to get the site on the major search engines, and I'd obviously like to have the site come up early in the search results. I'm basically clueless about how to tackle this. Does anyone have any suggestions from personal experience, or where to look on the net for help?

Thanks in advance for your help. :o

P.S. This has nothing to do with escorts, sorry. ;-)

Here's some info that should be of at least some use to you:

http://www.onlinesoldier.com/Promotion/searchengines.htm

http://search-engines-web.com/

http://yak.net/fqa/302.html

http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum8/632.htm

The main site to really about is Google -- something like 60% of the searches are now done through it. Most of your effort should be done with it in mind.

There are some products that claim to help. I have no real info on whether or not they do help, although I suspect some of them do. Here are a couple of examples:

http://www.searchengineplacementsoftware.com/

http://www.vnm.co.uk/search-engine-placement.htm

http://synergycomputing.biz/prot/catalog/browsecategory5A.asp?link=GOOGLE%20PLACEMENT&category=SPECIAL-NATURAL-SOLUTIONS

http://www.searchengineethics.com/

You can find a lot more information by searching for "search engine optimization" or "website placement".

Hope this helps.

You can arrange for Google to display information about your site on the right side of the page whenever someone searches for a keyword of your own choosing.

These items are called "AdWords" and you only pay when someone clicks on the link. You can set up a daily budget to limit the amount of money you want to spend for each AdWord.

For more info, just go to adwords.google.com

...Hoover

p.s. I don't work for Google! :)
