Hi there. I find it very odd that I haven't been able to find this type of service on my own, so I'm asking here. I am considering a trip to Thailand. I found a couple websites for services that provide you with gay guided tours of Thailand. In each case it is made clear that the guides are only guides. I believe this is true since they do not show pictures of the guides. I'm wondering - does anyone know of any similar services which provide tours, but where the guides actually provide full service companionship? :)

I'm planning my first trip as well and feel a little daunted by all of the options. I imagine you might be able to find the sort of guide you are looking for once you get there.

I just contacted Utopia Tours because they seem to have a good rep and their prices for what they are providing seem reasonable enough. Their hotel prices actually seem quite good in that they include all the taxes and service charges. I asked them to put an itinerary together for me. Personally I like the idea of having a good, English speaking guide for showing me the sites. I can meet the cute bar boys at night for a little romp and for that sort of companionship. It seems to make sense to me that one might want a professional guide for sightseeing and a professional of another sort for night time fun.

What I need to find now is a reasonable business class airline seat to get there. I'm not sure I could survive a day in the air in coach. If anyone has tips on that let me know. I have found a couple of websites and one of them was quoting fares of about $3800 from DCA to BKK next September via Toronto (on AC for the transpacific part) and Hong Kong (on Cathay Pacific from HK to BK).

You make a good point about the guides.

I am also finding the planning daunting. I have never been to Asia.

How long do you plan to be in Thailand for? I assume you provided Utopia with details of where you wanted to visit and for how long? Perhaps I should do the same.

I'm planning to be there for about 3 weeks. When I hear back from Utopia I'll let you know. I basically told them I had never been there and will be traveling solo along with my general likes and the sorts of things I would want to do on my trip and asked them to see if they could design an itinerary for me. So, we'll see what they come up with.

I have a friend here who is from Thailand so I have asked him for some tips as well. I figure I would spend a week or 10 days in Bangkok and then some time in Pattaya and maybe Chaing Mai or go over to Cambodia and see Angkor Wat.

I heard back from Utopia Tours (http://www.utopia-tours.com) regarding Thailand touring. They put together a package/itinerary for me that looks pretty good. My trip will be almost 3 weeks and the total including hotels, transfers, private guide touring, some meals and all taxes is about $2700. Of course that doesn't include my airfare to get to Thailand. I'm sure it could done a bit much more cheaply if I did everything on my own instead, but to me it seems like a pretty good value. I also like the fact that their guides are gay or at least gay friendly. You can use their guides without using them for your while travel package, but in busy seasons I think they give priority to their package guests. My trip is 5 days/4 nights Bangkok, then a 4 day/3 night package in Pattaya plus one extra night there, then Chiang Mai for 4 days/3 nights plus an extra night there, then a 2 day trip to Chiang Rai, and returning to Bangkok for a further 5 days. Most of that time is pretty well tied up with touring the historic and cultural sites and they also have some nightlife touring as well except for most of my final few days in Bangkok which are largely unplanned. There are also a couple of free days here and there that aren't scheduled. Their website is comprehensive and they have multiple levels of hotels to choose from in most places so you can stay cheap, luxury, or somewhere in between.

You have a pretty good itinerary for the most part, although I'm hard-pressed to imagine having a guide for all the time in Pattaya - the best thing to do there is spend the days at the beach and the nights at the bars. (You will be ready for some downtime after Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.) There isn't much need for a guide to do that. Your itinerary is also a bit Bangkok heavy for my tastes. I would have shortened the Bangkok parts and arranged to spend some time in Phuket. But there's always next time!

I'm not really a beach person. I don't like just sitting in the sun and I get bored really fast doing that. Most of my time is free in Pattaya, there's only 1 day with the guide there and that is to see the local temple sites. On the other hand I enjoy hanging out in cities. I'm sure other people would prefer what you suggest though.

Trust me, Pattaya's Dongtan Beach is not like any other beach that you've been to. ;-) By the time you get to Pattaya, you may find yourself suffering from temple fatigue. As for Phuket, there are many other daytime activities other than the beach, including boat tours and some truly beautiful national parks. But as I said, there's always next time.

I am traveling to Thailand for the first time in late February / early March of 2006. Flying via Signapore Airlines in Business Class (Using Frequent Flyer Miles!)

My past travels have taken me to Europe and South America. I have reviewed several escorts on this site under US and Budapest.

The agency I contact in Budapest (Gay Tailored Tours), now offers many of their services in SouthEast Asia. Bob - the gentleman who runs this agency has also set up an office in Bangkok. I have been a client of Bob's agency for the past several years. He is an American who is easy to work with, knows the countries and cities in which he does business.

The reason I am venturing to Bangkok, is because Bob is establishing an agency there, and he has "piqued" my interest in checking out Thailand. I am an independent traveler, but I also appreciate the wealth of info on this site.

As for Bob and his agency, he may assist me in planning major portions of this trip. Apparently he my also include occasional visits by some of his key "talent". Check them out at http://www.gaytailoredtours.com or contact Bob at gaytailoredtours@yahoo.com. He also has an e-mail address in Bangkok at thailand4travel@yahoo.com.

I will continue to review this site for info. My plan is to visit Bangkok for a few days, travel to Phuket area, on to Cambodia to visit the temples, etc. then back to Bangkok then return to US. Total travel time is app. 17 days.

Believe me there is no need to have anyone find Asian talent for you in Thailand.

It is completely different from Europe or South America,

There are many bars ,saunas etc which will offer you all the talent you can handle and the money you will spend will be much less then having someone provide escorts for you!!!
