HI, Traveling to Sydney in the next 2 months. Looking for advice on where to stay, and what to see in Australia from a solo travelers prospective. Are there any single gay traveler message or meeting boards??;)

Hi, I am just back from Sydney and New Zealand. Unfortunately I have only been to Sydney and to Melbourne (on another trip) so I do not have much to offer.

I stayed at the Millenium Hotel in Syndey which I would recommend (rates from internet sites around $63US). It is a high rise (25 floors) but do ask for a view of the harbour bridge. You will get a panaormic view of the city and harbour which is incredible, just like a post card. Great food at the hotel, fitness room, outdoor pool, sundeck, close to subway, lots of convenience stores, etc. It is a good 4 star hotel with a good location, at Kings Cross (near Knightscall brothel if that interests you?), and a 10 minute walk to Oxford Street where there are a lot of gay bars and where you can easily pick up the 2 gay papers, SX and Sydney Star Observer, both of which have escort ads. Another hotel, more expensive is the Hyde Park Hotel next to the Mariott on Hyde Park, more central, closer to Oxford St, which has little kitchenettes in most rooms but is about $50 more a night. Ask for deals as the OZ travel industry is suffering right now.

The OZ dollar is worth less than the US and Canadian ones so be prepared for some good deals on your trip. One thing you must do is go for dinner to the Rocks area, at one of the harbour side restraurants like Waterfront, Doyles, or Wolfies. What spectular views of the harbour, opera house. Truly memorable.

For my money, New Zealand is even more beautiful, less expensive and more friendly. Despite the fact there is no escort scene there, it is THE place to go for a great holiday.

Sorry I was not very active in OZ or NZ. The whole trip took another turn for me but I did engage one guy in Sydney whose photo ad appears in the Star Observer under the unassuming name of JOCK!!!! Quite a good pix of him there, but frankly he turned out to be much older than I expected but still had a great body. He used to work in NYC and has retired in NYC. Rather like a lonesome cowboy type, but a bit too anemic in style or health for my interest. He had all the toys and was reasonably good but on the Johnny Scale, as opposed to the Richter Scale, he was just a 5.3 movement.

NZ is absolutely incredibly beautiful and friendly but do not go there for fun with a capital F.. Go there for other reasons. As for Sydney, there are not that many escorts advertising, and frankly nothing exceptional to my taste, but I had work on my schedule so simply could not play around. There may be some for your taste, we all have different interests.

have to agree with johnny. just returned from a month in oz - sydney, melbourne, brisbane/gold coast. beautiful country, marvelous trip. check out manley beach. also be sure and dine at otto's at wooloomooloo, not at all touristy and great local (straight) crowd. the surprise of the visit was that there really ISN'T that great a selection of escorts in quality/quantity. this runs against the 'prevailing wisdom' i know and may spoil the fantasy some people may have, but you're better off knowing up front. one theory for the big-time clock watchers is that they are mainly straight, and out to make a (very quick) buck - which is perfectly fine for some clients. sydney's knightcall service was merely adequate. a friend who just separately returned from sydney has the same views. the aussie escort guys we were (separately) with just couldn't compare, at least for us, in terms of passion and excitement to the escort guys of say south america, in particular brazil and argentina. but well worth the trip nevertheless!

Don't forget that Sydney is pretty seasonal and can be very quiet during the winter months. However, right now is summer and coming up to Mardi Gras - can't think of a better place in the world to be.

The bars are heaving with out of town horny tourists and the escort scene is supplemented by guys from around Australia and the international circuit.

I have had very recent communication with matthew hayden--he will be spending six months in Auckland starting just about today--he has a number of reviews in the London section. He does respond to emails and is a first class guy from what I understand.
