Carnival 2008 has come and gone. Were any guys who read and/or post at this site there and enjoying themselves immensely? I'm interested in reading about your experiences. I'm quite certain that others who frequent this site are as interested, too!

 

I got a thrill in reading snippets and seeing pics at the blog "Made in Brazil." The webmaster is phenomenal; he sends out at least one to five timely hits (along with photos) daily.

C A R N A V A L in R I O 2008

 

Hey Axiom, I was there this year for a third time for Carnival and there are no words to describe the euphoria and craziness of the Carioca about this event. They live all year long for this moment, for this week of happiness, joy and alegria. The event attracts also a myriad of tourist from all over the world.

 

I went to the Sambadrome (a place designed especially for the Parade) on the first night on Sunday to watch the parade with a friend of mine from Paris. There were 6 Samba Scools competing that day and each School has about 1h 15min to cross the Sambadrome. I stayed "only" till 5 am, because I was jet-lagged. The only turn-off this year was the rain who kept washing the City for three days on and off. The Carnival is something that you have to experience at least once in your life - it IS the best show on Earth!

Steven, I thank you for posting. Your writing and gorgeous pics brought back 2003 when I was there. (It also rained intermittently during the parade five years ago, too! But the "rain did not dampen it;" this pagentry went on and on and on! I left at 4a after a major glitch which occurred in the predominately gay school's event-- its name has been forgotten for me to spell correctly.)
