It was four years ago; I was in Rio for "C A R N A V A L" (the preferred spelling)! My, what a time I had for two weeks!!!! It's happening soon! Please guys, once you return to your native abode-- please continue to reflect and be willing to share some of your impressions here for us/me to bask since I will NOT be there this year in 2007! Muito obrigado!

I just got back from this year's Carnaval in Rio. Will be posting pics, video and a trip report in the coming few days on 15 Minutes...

I didn't think it was possible that the Sambadrome could see any more creativity that when i went in 2005. I was wrong. The innovation was incredible.

One of the greatest experiences I've had was seeing the desfile in the Sambadrome in 2003. I went to Salvador's Carnaval last year, and the Brazilians seem to prefer that, but to me, the creativity, energy, exuberance, infectious rhythms, and the delights to the eye make Rio's Carnaval parade one of the things you should do at least once in your life.

Thanks guys: I just viewed this thread again this morning (March 16, 2007)! I, too, hope that before I leave this earth that I can make another visit to Brasil during this very special time!

Ben, I await your writing and visuals regarding your experiences at your wonderful blog.

This one is too easy. I'll pass! :)

Axiom, I would love to go to Carnaval with you next year. Just send me the ticket! Aren't you going to Brazil soon anyway?

Oh to be back in Brasil again. Reminds me of the story of the man who would spread the gratuity on the bed of pleasure in afterglow and request that the escort pick them up with his ass. Oh those were heady days....}(

It's 02 October 2007. Next Tuesday I hope to travel to Machu Picchu and onward to other parts of Peru, Chile, Argentina then to Brasil, 09 November until the short time of 15 November.

I am as excited as if this is my first trip to the land of the cariocas, feel very comfortable since this will be my 7th trip in 6 years.

A moment of incredible surprise was when one of the UNIDOS floats/allegories ignited while coming through the Sambodromo. It was towards the northern end during the Desfile des Campeons on the Saturday night after the end on Carnaval. Even the firefighters were dancing the samba and having a great time.

I ran across a couple of comments by him on the GayTravelBarzil forum dated October 12. IIRC, they were more general in nature and not specific to his adventures. Inquiring minds do want to know how he is getting off --- I mean getting along.:+

As long as I have your attention (if I still do), what did you think of the coverboy from PS a few days ago, Angel? I expected to see a Deli thread on him when I saw it, but not a peep. I figure this is vaguely relevant to the topic as he does appear to hail from south of the border ;-)

I just read this! (It's 25 February 2008). I'll respond (in general terms) yet about how I "got off" this evening when I feel ok in having my dial up occupied for a while. I have only one phone line at the present time! (...know that it is hard to believe during this time of technology!)!
