I know your request was directed at the guy who plans to go, but apparently from what I've gleaned from Anthony's blog-- the place is forever changing.

 

I was there for the first time in February two years ago. What was available then in terms of escorts and gay venues and the like have gone through a great metamorphasis (sp?)! I have been to the DR 3 times in 2 years & plan on going back in June. That's how much I like it!

 

The scene: Location can make or break your trip. Make sure you stay and spend your pink dollars at Camilo House Apartments or Casa New Yorker Hotel.

 

Both are located in the Colonial Zone area of Santo Domingo and are a couple of short blocks from each other and more importantly a 2-3 minute stroll to the Conde a pedestrian walkway with souvenirs, bars, restaurants, pizza joints etc.. You can find almost anything on the Conde .

 

Anthony Montgomery, an American ex-pat, operates the Camilo House Apts. These are junior apts with 2 spacious rooms, including a full kitchen, plus private bathroom. Maid service everyday, A/C, TV (CNN, BBC, lots of American channels, and straight porn. Each apt has it's own doorbell at the front

(locked) door where you can buzz your amigo up. Anthony is friendly, a wealth of info about the gay scene and will clue you in on the local scene in great detail. You won't go wrong here.

 

Casa New Yorker, owned by Scotch another ex-pat from New York, used to be the Monaga Guest House. It's a charming Art Deco building with your choice of small or large rooms.Each has private bathroom, maid service everyday, A/C, TV (CNN, BBC, lots of American channels, and straight porn. When I was there last year there was (free) coffee juice and toast and jam or peanut butter to help get your day started.

 

Both places have 24-hr security or one of the managers on call.

 

As this is an escort forum I'll stick to the bars were you will meet the hustlers or as they are called Buggarones (sp?)

 

Bar Friends crawls with these fellows and you can meet almost any type of guy there.

They aint shy either. You can meet new friends at Jay-Dees's disco or Pacos cafe on the Conde. Pacos Cafe is a short 2-3 min walk from either Camilo's or The Casa and is a great place to people watch as well. It's has indoor/outdoor seating and is open from 0700-2300. The guys have no problem in cruising and approaching you. Their are other gay venues that seem to come and go as well.

 

The guys are mostly Blatino (mixed race) and range from the muscle type to to twinky types.

 

The difference in the guys here and in Brazil is they are great fun to be around will hang out with you all night, smoke your cigs, and drink your booze. Another welcome change from Brazil is they are genuinely horny and have an insatiable desire to cum or "make leche".

 

They are yours for the night/day. It's not an hourly thing. They all love to fuck, get sucked and there are varying degrees of how active they are with you. I've always had a good fun time with them. As with any group of people there are a few bad apples, so try to feel the guy out, ask what he will do in bed, agree on the price, write it down on a bar napkin, check their ID or cedula, and have them sign it.They going rate is RD$1000,00 which is about USD 20.00. Some will go for RD$800.00.

 

Bring your own condoms and lube, You can buy them there but you're limited to lubricated surgical jelly and one type of condom.
